Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF), a potentially severe zoonotic viral disease causing fever and haemorrhagic manifestations in humans. As the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) has been detected in ticks in Spain and antibodies against the virus in ruminant sera in Corsica, it was necessary to know more about the situation in France. In 2022-2023, CCHFV was detected in 155 ticks collected from horses and cattle in southern France.

Two cases of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in prepubertal children are described in which the predominant obsessive ruminations relate to fear of acquired immune deficiency (AIDS) contamination. The findings in these cases are discussed in relation to known demographic and clinical profiles of OCD in children and adolescents. Fear of AIDS contamination in childhood OCD may reflect the effect of the current emphasis on AIDS in potentially vulnerable children with environmental influences giving the symptoms their specific content.

To investigate the presence of Coxiella burnetii in sheep and cattle, the two major ruminant populations of New Zealand, its seroprevalence was determined in aborting cattle and sheepdogs. These groups of animals were chosen because of their accessibility and the fact that they would be good indicators for the presence of the organism. A total of 2181 bovine and 12,556 canine samples were all seronegative. On the basis of these results and previous reports it is argued that New Zealand is free of coxiellosis or Q fever.

OBJECTIVES: Little is known about the effects of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) on chronic low back pain (CLBP) patients with no history of previous spine surgery. Using our prospectively collected database, we evaluate improvements in patients with and without previous spine surgery one-year post SCS implantation.
