ARP with a crosslinked xenograft in an open healing mode: clinical and microscopic characteristics of a case series.

OBJECTIVE: This case series aims to report clinical, radiographic, and microscopic outcomes of replacing extracted teeth with a crosslinked collagen/hydroxyapatite-enhanced porcine sponge for alveolar ridge preservation. Reporting includes the 12-month survival rate of implants placed after the alveolar ridge preservation period was completed. METHOD AND MATERIALS: Following gentle tooth extraction and degranulation of the socket, tactile examination revealed the morphologic configuration of remaining bone. Sockets presenting with ≥ 50% of residual buccal bone were included, and received - re

Component network meta-analysis of scaffold materials, platelet-rich fibrin and barrier membranes for alveolar ridge preservation.

BACKGROUND: Alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) involves the use of multiple treatment components, including scaffold materials, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) adjuncts, and barrier membranes. However, conventional meta-analyses generally evaluate complete treatment protocols and cannot determine the independent contribution of individual components. This study aimed to investigate the component-level effects of ARP interventions using component network meta-analysis (CNMA). METHODS: Randomized controlled trials evaluating ARP after tooth extraction in adults were identified from PubMed, Cochrane C

Periodontitis accelerates STING-mediated bone remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement.

INTRODUCTION: Orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) is a mechanically induced inflammatory process. Intriguingly, OTM under periodontitis conditions orchestrates a complex inflammatory microenvironment and exacerbates bone resorption. OBJECTIVES: Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is a key inflammation mediator, but its role in OTM with periodontitis was unclear. METHODS: We established an OTM model in rats with ligature-induced periodontitis. In vitro, rat periodontal ligament fibroblasts (PDLFs) were subjected to compressive stress and LPS to mimic orthodontic force and periodontitis inflam

Clinical Applications and Outcomes of Static Guided Endodontics in Teeth with Pulp Canal Obliteration: A Scoping Review.

INTRODUCTION: Pulp canal obliteration (PCO) presents a significant challenge in endodontic practice because canal location and negotiation may be difficult and associated with an increased risk of procedural errors. Static guided endodontics combines cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), digital surface scanning, and three-dimensional printing to facilitate guided access to calcified canals. This scoping review aimed to map and summarise the available clinical evidence regarding the use of static guided endodontics in the management of pulp canal obliteration. METHODS: This scoping review was

Flexible Bronchoscopic Retrieval of an Aspirated Toy Whistle Using a Modified 4 Fr Fogarty Balloon Technique.

Foreign body aspiration in children is an important cause of airway morbidity and may present with persistent cough, delayed diagnosis, atelectasis, and granulation tissue formation. Smooth hollow plastic foreign bodies may be particularly difficult to retrieve because standard forceps often fail to achieve a secure grip, and balloon-assisted techniques may be limited by repeated slippage. We report the case of a seven-year-old boy who presented with a persistent cough for 15 days following aspiration of a toy whistle. He was referred to our center after an unsuccessful retrieval attempt at an

Bioceramic bone tissue-engineered substitutes with anti-inflammatory effects in periodontitis.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory oral disease characterized by irreversible alveolar bone resorption, which severely impairs oral health and even leads to tooth loss. Clinical bone augmentation therapy for alveolar bone defects mainly relies on exogenous bone substitute materials. However, traditional materials are prone to implantation failure due to the persistent inflammatory microenvironment and bacterial infection in the periodontal area. The addition of antibiotics to improve antibacterial properties not only induces bacterial resistance but also causes systemic toxic and side eff…

PLA2G7-Mediated Pro-Inflammatory Activation of Lipid-Associated Macrophages Drives Pulpitis.

AIM: Pulpitis is a common and painful disease characterised by complex and dynamic immune responses and may lead to irreversible tissue damage or tooth loss. Macrophages act as key sentinels that exhibit differential metabolic reprogramming, tightly orchestrating the immune microenvironment. However, the specific metabolic mechanisms governing macrophage-driven inflammatory activation in pulpitis remain unclear. Here, we reveal a specific lipid metabolism-driven immune pathway within macrophages in pulpitis. METHODOLOGY: An integrative analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), lipid…
