Age-specific incidence rates were determined for hospitalizations resulting from complications of chickenpox. We reviewed medical records for all Olmsted County, Minnesota, residents hospitalized for chickenpox during the 20-year period 1962 through 1981. The effectiveness and safety of 5 mg of epidurally administered morphine for postoperative analgesia was determined in 276 healthy women undergoing cesarean delivery. Overall pain relief, time to administration of additional analgesic medications, and adverse side effects were evaluated. Epidural injection of 5 mg of morphine provided good to excellent pain relief lasting 24 to 36 hours for 83% of patients. To assess the effects of ageing upon the outcome of total hip replacement, the in-patient records of 100 elderly patients who had undergone Charnley hip replacement procedures within the last decade were reviewed. The medical records of all 309 leprosy patients who have been under the care of the Government Hospital for Hansen's disease in Jerusalem, Israel during the last 30 years, were surveyed. The records of 40 patients admitted to the Johannesburg Hospital with a total of 44 episodes of endocarditis were analysed. Pyrexia, albeit often low grade and intermittent, was the most consistent physical sign. The classic symptoms and signs of infective endocarditis were uncommon. We reviewed the birth certificates and hospital records of 7723 infants those mothers had reported using oral contraceptives. Retrospective study of data from annual surveys and hospital records over 23 years confirmed the 1950 report of a high prevalence of congenital hip disease (CHD) in the Cree-Ojibwa population of Island Lake, Man. AIMS: To report pregnancy outcomes and complications in women receiving eculizumab for the management of paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria.
METHODS: A service evaluation of routinely collected medical records across 49 pregnancies in 21 women.
RESULTS: Eculizumab was used in 37 pregnancies, 31 of which (83.8%) ended in live birth. Eight infants (25.8%) were born prematurely.
