In the present paper we discuss the current status of drug treatment for pathological gambling and the scientific rationales underlying the various pharmacological approaches. Specifically, we summarize the treatment study results of serotonin reuptake inhibitors, mood stabilizers, opioid antagonists, and atypical antipsychotics in pathological gambling. We also discuss dosage strategies, the duration of treatment, issues surrounding medication compliance, and approaches to treatment-refractory pathological gambling, such as pharmacological and behavioral augmentation.

Cutaneous lymphomas are rare and although some are a manifestation of systemic lymphoma, the majority arise primarily from the skin. Hypothyroidism may coexist with different renal pathologies. This article describes three cases with hypothyroidism and different renal pathologies. The first patient had hypothyroidism and nephrotic syndrome due to renal amyloidosis and Muckle-Wells Syndrome (MWS). The second patient had hypothyroidism and associated membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN). The third patient with hypothyroidism had obstructive acute renal failure caused by retroperitoneal fibrosis.

OBJECTIVE: To illustrate the originality and diversity of an ophthalmologic pathology associated with a thyroid disease (OATD), we report 42 cases of patients hospitalised or having consulted an ophthalmologic department for this disease over a period of 4 years.

Mazabraud's syndrome is a rare, sporadic disorder characterised by the association of mainly polyostotic fibrous dysplasia and intramuscular myxoma. Fibrous dysplasia is mostly diagnosed at a younger age, while myxomas only occur during adulthood. We report a case of a 42-year-old female with Mazabraud's syndrome where a polyostotic fibrous dysplasia was already diagnosed and at presentation two newly formed intramuscular myxomas were found in the gluteal muscle.

We retrospectively studied the clinical and pathologic features of uterine granulomas over a 10-year period. Granulomas were detected in 30 women, 22 to 81 years old, in the cervix (n = 12/1,090 cervical specimens; 1.1%) or uterine corpus (n = 18/12,000 uterine specimens; 0.15%). Seventeen patients with hypothyroid myopathy were studied before and after thyroxine (T4) treatment. The severity of clinical myopathy was assessed with the aid of a modified rating scale.
