Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of livestock veterinarians on antibiotic use and resistance: a cross-sectional study.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a pressing global health threat that requires integrated efforts under the One Health approach. Together with human medicine and agriculture, veterinary medicine is key to mitigating AMR emergence and spread. Veterinarians work at the forefront as public health agents and their antibiotic prescribing decisions may be influenced by several factors. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of livestock veterinarians regarding AMR and antibiotic use. A questionnaire-based study was conducted in Portugal, from Septem

Exploring Nutritional Counseling for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Review Based on WH Questions.

OBJECTIVES: The evidence supporting nutritional counseling (NC) as a care strategy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was evaluated in this review. Using a "WH" (what, why, which/where, who, when, and who/for whom) question approach, the review is structured around key questions that prompt detailed answers, providing insights into how NC can optimize IBD management. BACKGROUND: Nutritional counseling has emerged as an essential component of effective management for IBD. However, a lack of nutritional expertise can limit its successful implementation, hindering optimal patient care. METHOD

Trauma blocking or resource buffering? Occupational stress, burnout, and existential anxiety in teachers bereaved during the COVID-19 pandemic: the domain-specific effect of work-family boundary flexibility.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic left deep psychological scars on teachers who lost loved ones. This population bore a dual burden-profound grief while fulfilling professional duties-yet their psychological processes remain understudied. Integrating conservation of resources theory with existential psychology, this study examined the relationship between occupational stress and existential anxiety in pandemic-bereaved teachers, the mediating role of burnout, and the differential functioning of four work-family boundary flexibility dimensions, proposing the trauma blocking hypothesis and repor

Diabetes-specific formula as meal replacement for individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus and overweight or obesity: a Singapore expert consensus.

INTRODUCTION: In Singapore, only one-quarter of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and overweight/obesity in the primary care setting are achieving clinical targets with a food-first approach to medical nutrition therapy. Diabetes-specific formula as meal replacement (DSF-MR) provides an evidence-based escalation of care but remains underutilised in practice. We developed expert consensus recommendations to support the use of DSF-MR in Singapore and across Asia. METHODS: A multidisciplinary 11-member advisory board guided a multicomponent study that included an online healthcare professio

Survival and Homeostasis of Alveolar Macrophages in Vivo Depend on mTOR Signaling.

Alveolar homeostasis depends on tissue-resident professional phagocytes known as alveolar macrophages (AMs) that catabolize pulmonary surfactant. Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) arises from impaired surfactant clearance due to loss or dysfunction of AMs, most commonly from disrupted GM-CSF-dependent AM homeostasis and less frequently from congenital defects in surfactant synthesis or processing. PAP has also been reported as a pulmonary toxicity associated with mTOR inhibitor-based immunosuppressive therapy. Although mTOR activity regulates macrophage metabolism and proliferation, its req

"We're all just trying to do right by our patients": a qualitative study of healthcare and research personnel's moral experiences of engaging with COVID-19 research during the first wave of the pandemic.

BACKGROUND: Although research plays a critical role during emerging pandemics such as COVID-19, clinical care and public health priorities may be in tension with research priorities at times. This study aimed to better understand the on-the-ground realities and experiences of those who worked at the intersections of research and clinical care early in the COVID-19 pandemic to clarify the ethical dimensions of pandemic research and the support needs of those involved. The research question guiding this inquiry was: What were healthcare and research personnel's moral experiences of engaging with

Psychological capital, perceptions of clinical stressors, and bullying experiences among Chinese nursing students during clinical practice: a latent profile and mediation analysis.

BACKGROUND: Bullying experiences during clinical practice threaten nursing students' learning and professional development. However, existing studies mainly focused on variable-centered associations, with limited exploration of heterogeneous subgroups from a person-centered perspective. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of perceptions of clinical stressors (PCS) in the relationship between psychological capital (PsyCap) and bullying experiences, while identifying latent profiles of bullying experiences. Recognizing distinct subgroups and clarifying influencing mechanisms can help
