PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes after implantation of a new 320°-arc length Ferrara intrastromal corneal ring segment (320-ICRS) in eyes of patients with keratoconus.
METHODS: A multicentric nonrandomized study was conducted in which a new 320-ICRS was placed in 138 eyes of 130 patients with keratoconus. Uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), keratometry, corneal volume, asphericity, lines of vision gain/loss, and vectorial analysis were assessed preoperatively and at the final follow-up visit after the procedure.

INTRODUCTION: Mounier-Kuhn syndrome or tracheobronchomegaly is a rare congenital condition, the management of which is complex. We report the case of a patient who was treated with interventional endoscopy.
OBSERVATION: We describe the case of a 74-year-old man with a diagnosis of tracheobronchomegaly who was admitted in 2003 with a background of deteriorating respiratory status and the occurrence of postural syncope. He initially received a tracheobronchial silicone Y prosthesis, extended with metal prostheses at the tracheal and bronchial level. This arrangement remained stable until 2011.

PURPOSE: Prospective study evaluating outcomes of individually sutured platinum segment chains in upper eyelid loading.
METHODS: Single-centre, single-surgeon, prospective study. Upper eyelid loading with 0.4 and 0.2 g platinum segment chains for lagophthalmos. Segments were sutured to create a desired weight and attached to superior tarsus and distal levator aponeurosis following levator recession.
PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURES: improvement in lagophthalmos and complications.
SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES: cosmesis of eyelid margin contour and implant prominence. Minimum 3-month follow-up.

AIMS: Lagophthalmos is the major functional complication of facial paralysis because, in the absence of treatment, it can lead to corneal scarring and blindness. The authors describe the use of Amplatzer occlusion devices to successfully occlude Fontan baffle leaks in three patients. These additional right to left shunts were recognized at the time of elective transcatheter closure of surgically created fenestrations. A common site of baffle leak is described at the base of the right atrial appendage. This suture line serves to exclude the right atrial appendage from Fontan baffle flow and lies within the corrugated surface of the pectinate muscles, making it particularly vunerable to baffle leaks over time.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the long-term outcomes of keratoprosthesis as an alternative surgical procedure in the management of aniridic keratopathy.
DESIGN: Retrospective, multicenter case series.
METHODS: Fifteen adult patients (16 eyes) with aniridia who were deemed at high risk for regular donor corneal transplantation underwent a Boston type I keratoprosthesis procedure for visual rehabilitation. Device retention rate, preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, and intraoperative and postoperative complications were studied.
RESULTS: The mean age of the patients was 45 (median 50) years.
