Vitamin D and Obesity: Current Evidence and Controversies.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Evidence from observational studies suggests that obesity is associated with low vitamin D. As both obesity and hypovitaminosis D present an alarmingly increased prevalence worldwide, there is an intense research interest to clarify all aspects of this association. This review summarizes current evidence from meta-analyses investigating vitamin D status in obesity, including the effects of weight loss and bariatric surgery on vitamin D status and the outcomes of vitamin D supplementation on body weight. We also discuss potential pathophysiologic mechanisms and important cont…

Gestational weight gain adequacy among twin pregnancies in France.

The objective of this paper is to describe gestational weight gain (GWG), to assess the applicability of the 2009 Institute of Medicine (IOM) guidelines, and to derive a GWG adequacy classification within a French cohort. We included twins from the national, prospective, population-based JUmeaux MODe d'Accouchement (JUMODA) cohort study (2014-2015). Following the IOM approach, we selected a 'standard' population of term pregnancies with 'optimal' birthweight (≥2500 g; n = 2562). GWG adequacy (insufficient; adequate; excessive) was defined using IOM recommendations (normal body mass index [BMI]

Which distinct body image concerns and emotion dysregulation dimensions predict the onset and persistence of disordered eating behaviors among Iranian adolescents? A longitudinal study.

Disordered eating (DE) behaviors are common during adolescence and linked to emotion dysregulation and maladaptive body image cognitions; however, prospective evidence from non-Western contexts remains limited. Guided by emotion dysregulation theory and cognitive-behavioral models of eating disorders, this study examined whether emotion dysregulation and body image concerns predict the onset and persistence of DE behaviors among Iranian adolescents over a short-term, one-month follow-up period. Iranian adolescents aged 10-19 years (M = 15.31) completed self-report scales assessing emotion dysr

Improved glycemic and weight control with Dulaglutide addition in SGLT2 inhibitor treated obese type 2 diabetic patients at high cardiovascular risk in a real-world setting. The AWARE-2 study.

We evaluated the effects on glycemic control and body weight of a GLP1-RA in obese type 2 diabetic patients treated with SGLT2-inhibitors and other hypoglycemic agents and/or insulin, in a real-world setting. A cohort of 583 type 2 diabetic outpatients treated with a SGLT2 inhibitor and/or other anti-diabetic medications were examined. Because patients had suboptimal glycemic control, the GLP1-RA Dulaglutide was added to ongoing medications. At 6 months, 334 patients had a follow-up visit. Patients were classified in terms of cardiovascular risk (CVR) employing the ESC-EASD 2019 criteria, with…
