The draining of the right superior vena cava (SVC) into the left atrium is a very rare anomaly of systemic vein drainage. This case report describes a term male infant presenting with central cyanosis diagnosed with right SVC drainage into the left atrium. The diagnosis was performed using conventional echocardiography and computed tomography angiography. Surgical correction with translocation of the right SVC to the right atrium was necessary to treat the symptom of cyanosis and prevent further complications, including brain abscesses and paradoxical embolization.

A patient with a history of colon cancer was admitted to our emergency department due to progressive dyspnea, chest pain, and swelling of the upper limbs and face. A central venous port device had been implanted into the right subclavian vein for administration of systemic chemotherapy several months prior. Thoracic computed tomography scan revealed a 2.8 cm-long thrombus arising from the tip of the venous catheter, which completely occluded the superior vena cava in close proximity to the right atrium.

A 72-year-old woman with symptomatic and drug-refractory paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) underwent radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA). She had a history of a total right lung excision. Her chest X-ray and computed tomography (CT) revealed a severely sight-sided dislocation of the heart. Thus, the procedure was carefully performed under guidance of a CT, intracardiac echogram, atriography, and 3D mapping system. Finally, the AF was successfully treated by RFCA without any complications.

Percutaneous iliosacral screw (IS) fixation for pelvic ring injuries with the use of an O-arm imaging system has been associated with decreased procedure time and improved accuracy of IS screw placement compared with the use of fluoroscopic guidance. We present an unusual case of right lower lobe intralobar pulmonary sequestration in a previously healthy and physical active 27-year-old U.S. Marine, who presented with new onset hemoptysis after doing push-ups. Diagnosis was obtained by chest X-ray and contrast computed tomography scan. Preoperatively the patient underwent fluoroscopy-guided embolization of the aberrant systemic artery supplying the sequestration. The segmental resection of the sequestration was then successfully performed through a muscle-sparing thoracotomy.

We report the case of a 53-year-old man who presented with typical angina and dyspnea on exertion. Besides coronary artery disease based on atherosclerosis, the patient demonstrated a rare coronary anomaly consisting of an atypical connection of the left coronary system with the left ventricle. Both pathologic conditions could be treated successfully by cardiac operations. Besides conventional coronary angiography examinations, cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) studies help to demonstrate the complex anatomy in congenital coronary anomalies.

Dorsal agenesis of the pancreas is a rare congenital disorder. We report a case of a 65-year-old man with mild abdominal pain and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen showed a short pancreas with no pancreatic tissue ventral to the splenic vein. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) visualized the absence of a dorsal duct system and confirmed the suspicion of complete agenesis of the dorsal pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) was also performed to rule out pancreatic malignancy.

We report a rare case of herniation of a basilar artery into the sphenoid sinus after a traumatic skull base fracture. Computed tomographic angiography, magnetic resonance imaging, and cerebral angiogram demonstrated patency of the basilar artery through the fractured clivus at the time of injury, a very rare occurrence. The following day, the patient developed pontine and cerebellar infarcts. In a patient with clival fracture, we advocate fast assessment of vertebrobasilar system with CTA and early anticoagulation treatment in those with vascular entrapment.

Complex pulmonary vascular blood supply is common in patients with tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia, major systemic to pulmonary collateral arteries and hypoplastic or deficient central pulmonary arteries. An extralobar lung sequestration, which has not been described previously in these patients, was imaged in a 6-week-old infant with multidetector computed tomography with sub-millimeter resolution. Arterial and venous vessels were analyzed using three-dimensional vascular exploration tools and results were confirmed with cardiac catheterization.

Polyarteritis nodosa is a rare disease, which is characterized by aneurysm formation and occlusion in the arteries of multiple systems. Due to its extensive involvement, whole-body evaluation is necessary for diagnosis and treatment monitoring. We report a case of polyarteritis nodosa using multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) as a "one-stop shop" modality for whole-body arterial evaluation. With precise protocol design, MDCT can be used as a reliable noninvasive modality providing comprehensive whole-body arterial evaluation.

We were interested in whether or not the biomechanical status of the hip influences the course of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. To investigate this, we used a computer aided system based on a three dimensional mathematical model for determining the stress distribution in the hip joint from standard anteroposterior rentgenographs (X-ray images) of both hips and pelvis. Based on the results of our study, we suggest that the biomechanical parameters of the hip play an important role in the outcome of treatment of hips affected by avascular necrosis of the femoral head.

Increasing evidence suggests the involvement of the cerebellum in non-motor functions. We describe a patient who presented speech deficits after a right cerebellar infarction without other cognitive impairments. 99mTc-HMPAO single-photon emission computed tomography showed a marked hypoperfusion in the right cerebellar hemisphere, but did not show crossed cerebellar- cerebral diaschisis. The absence of neuroradiological evidence of structural supratentorial lesions supports the cerebellar role in modulating not only the motor system, but also higher order functions.

Multiple peripheral pulmonary artery aneurysms were diagnosed by computed tomography and confirmed angiographically in a 7-year-old boy. On histological examination unusual mucoid vasculopathic changes were noted in the pulmonary artery aneurysms and pulmonary vasculature as a part of systemic vascular involvement. This case demonstrates a new association between mucoid vasculopathic changes and pulmonary aneurysms. Mucoid vasculopathy could represent one more disorder having a causative role in the etiology of intrapulmonary arterial aneurysms.

Neurocysticercosis can be a cause of new-onset seizures. Cysticercosis is caused by fecal-oral spread of the parasite Taenia solium, the pork tapeworm, from affected individuals. Neurocysticercosis results from parasitic invasion of the central nervous system. The clinical presentation ranges from headaches to acute obstructive hydrocephalus. Computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging is usually diagnostic, while serologic tests are generally less reliable. Treatment consists of praziquantel or albendazole, generally prescribed in combination with oral corticosteroids.

On the basis of neurological, psychological and computed tomographic studies of the head early consequences of microsurgical elimination of supratentorial brain aneurysms were analysed in a group of 37 patients. It was shown that this method of aneurysm treatment may lead to brain oedema near the operation site. Oedema development was observed most frequently in cases of prolonged pressure exerted by spatulae on the brain tissue during the operation, aneurysm location in the anterior cerebral artery system and in cases operated on from 4 to 10 days after subarachnoid haemorrhage.
