Stability and oscillation in interpersonal awareness: a clinical-developmental analysis.

This paper has examined the research questions and strategies used by those who attempt to study social development from a cognitive-developmental orientation. It began by pointing to the need to integrate the descriptive work done by social-cognitive developmental researchers with some of the approaches taken by clinical and social psychologists in studying the same general phenomenon: interpersonal relations. An issue-by-stage social-cognitive map developed on the basis of both conceptual and empirical investigations was described, as were some of the properties which defined these stages. F

Enacting compassionate care at the end-of-life in long-term care: a qualitative interpretive study.

BACKGROUND: Approximately one-quarter of the Canadian population will die in long-term care (LTC) homes, highlighting the importance of improving end-of-life (EOL) care in these settings. There is a growing recognition of the need to integrate palliative approach to care in these settings. Central to this approach is compassionate care, which supports the emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of residents and their families at EOL. Compassion is fundamental to person-centered care and plays a critical role in shaping how staff and families experience dying, death and bereavement. Compa

Men's experiences of disclosing child sexual abuse in therapy: An interpretative phenomenological analysis.

BACKGROUND: Men exposed to child sexual abuse (CSA) have recently received increased research attention. Most studies have emphasised barriers to disclosure, given that non-disclosure is common in men and contributes to isolation, confusion and distress following CSA. However, beyond identifying barriers, little is known about men's experiences of disclosure itself, particularly in healthcare contexts. METHOD: Interviews were conducted with 14 men throughout Australia who had experienced CSA and engaged in therapy (i.e., psychology, psychiatry, counselling). Interviews explored pathways to, a
