We report a case of Aeromonas osteomyelitis due to injury in a sewage worker. He presented with cellulitis of the left foot. Radiographs showed evidence of osteomyelitis involving the head and neck of the fifth metatarsal. Aeromonas species was isolated from the tissue and swab from the foot. The head and neck of the fifth metatarsal were excised and the patient improved on 4 weeks of intravenous meropenem followed by 4 weeks of oral clindamycin and ciprofloxacin.

A quarter of pediatric surgical emergencies are non trauma and are for most of them limping child, acute abdominal pain, and acute scrotum. All of the child's lower limb pathology can be described as a limp, and the same is true for abdominal pain and acute scrotum. Several authors have reported the advantages of adipofascial flaps. We describe a series of flaps based exclusively on the perforator of the peroneal artery. This is an axially patterned distally based adipofascial flap useful for small and medium-sized defects over the distal fibula, lateral malleolus, the Achilles region or the dorsum of the foot. It can be an excellent alternative to fasciocutaneous or free flaps, with minimum donor-site morbidity, good cosmesis and an excellent functional result.

BACKGROUND: Induced bullous pemphigoid is known to be triggered by drugs and some physical agents. Six cases of bullous pemphigoid induced by thermal burns have been reported since 1991.
CASE REPORT: We observed a bullous eruption around thermal burns of the left leg in a 89 year-old woman. Bullous pemphigoid was diagnosed by histological and immunohistochemical findings with a sub-epidermal blister and linear IgG and C3 deposition at the dermal-epidermal junction. Indirect immunofluorescence was negative. The eruption rapidly resolved with topical steroids.

Leg pain in athletes has many aetiologies. The clinician must strive to specifically define the clinical problem in order to administer the appropriate treatment for the athlete's condition. Clinical conditions in the leg causing symptoms in athletes include chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECC), tendinitis, medial tibial stress syndrome, stress fractures, fascial defects, musculotendinous junction disruptions (tennis leg), popliteal artery entrapment syndrome, effort-induced venous thrombosis and nerve entrapment. Appropriate diagnostic studies are needed to allow accurate diagnosis.

We studied 101 patients who were operated on at Oulu University Hospital for ruptured Achilles tendon from 1987 to 1992 (inclusive), and 87 healthy control patients from among Army conscripts.
