BACKGROUND: Marfan's syndrome is an inherited connective tissue disorder that affects many organ systems and has widespread phenotype expression. The diagnosis is therefore made by phenotype assessment. Dural ectasia has been classified as a major diagnostic criterium with a prevalence of over 90% in patients with Marfan's syndrome. The objective of this study determine the feasibility of performing CT angiographic examination of aorta and large vessels for dural ectasia grading in a single CT exam of patients with Marfan's syndrome.

Multiple jejunoileal atresia is a challenge to the pediatric surgeon. The aim of the study is to preserve bowel length and prevent the long-term complications of short bowel syndrome. The authors present a rare case of combined multiple jejunoileal atresia and colonic atresia managed by 9 primary anastomoses over a gastroperineal transanastomotic tube. This technique avoided the use of stomas and their attendant complications.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Hepatic hemangioendotheliomas are rare tumors in childhood. We report our 10-years' experience in a tertiary health center.
METHODS: This retrospective analysis included eight patients with infantile hepatic hemangioendothelioma.

As experience with laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) has increased, so have the number and variety of complications. We report a case of choledocholithiasis caused by migration of a surgical clip applied during LC. A 57-year-old Japanese man who had undergone LC 6 years previously was referred to our hospital with pruritus and jaundice. The value of intravenous urography in patients with prostatism was retrospectively evaluated. One thousand four hundred ninety five intravenous urograms of male patients referred by the department of urology were reviewed. Based on the clinical information, only patients with complaints of prostatism as a single symptom were selected. Patients with associated symptoms (i.e. hematuria, urinary infection) were excluded. Meconium ileus was noted as an early manifestation of cystic fibrosis in 60 neonates between 1972 and 1991. There were 20 girls and 40 boys. RATIONALE: Anastomotic stricture after oesophagojejunostomy occurs in 5%-15% of cases, and those complicated by jejunal dilated blind pouch are clinically rare. Traditional single treatments cannot address both lesions simultaneously.
