BACKGROUND: Despite the results of prospective randomized placebo controlled studies, endorsement from various professional societies, and approval by the FDA, the chemoprevention of breast cancer is limited. This is attributable to the perceived risks of complications with tamoxifen. Individualized risk-benefit calculation regarding the use of tamoxifen is burdensome for practical clinical use. We propose a Chemoprevention Indication Score (CIS) that is easy to compute and reliable to identify women suitable for chemoprevention.

Pilot-scale struvite crystallization tests using anaerobic effluent from potato processing industries were performed at three different plants. Two plants (P1 & P2) showed high phosphate removal efficiencies, 89+/-3% and 75+/-8%, resulting in final effluent levels of 12+/-3 mg PO(4)(3-)-PL(-1) and 11+/-3mg PO(4)(3-)-PL(-1), respectively. OBJECTIVE: We sought to verify if an oral contraceptive (OC) containing drospirenone affects the cardiovascular risk of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

BACKGROUND: Mothers of an infant are much less likely to exercise regularly compared to other women. This study tested the efficacy of a brief tailored intervention to increase physical activity (PA) in women 3-12 months after childbirth. The study used a pretest-posttest design. Self-monitoring of urine flow may be beneficial in preventing catheter-related problems. An intervention was pilot tested using a single group design with 11 individuals over 6 months.
