Duplications of the small bowel are an uncommon group of congenital malformations whose symptoms rarely occur in adults. We report the case of a 21 year-old man who suffered during four years from symptoms related to the ulceration of ectopic gastric mucosa in an ileal duplication (spontaneously resolving peritonitis, pelvic abscess, recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding and chronic abdominal pain). Cholescintigraphic diagnosis of acute cholecystitis requires accurate assessment of gallbladder nonvisualization. Confusion may occur when the gallbladder overlies the duodenal sweep or when labeled bile pools in the duodenum. Gallbladder activity could not be differentiated from duodenal activity in 21 patients. The oral ingestion of 225 ml of water permitted successful differentiation of the gallbladder from the duodenum. In 25 control subjects, it was demonstrated that that volume of water did not have a cholecystokinetic effect.

Monoclonal antibodies Ost6 and Ost7 (mouse Immunoglobulin G1) to human osteogenic sarcoma were isolated from ascitic fluid and labeled with radioiodine. After injection into athymic nu/nu mice with s.c. xenografts of human osteogenic sarcoma, the uptake of radioactivity in tumors, visceral organs, and blood was determined. Hepatobiliary imaging was performed in a woman who, at subsequent surgery, was found to have gallstone ileus due to a large gallstone obstructing the proximal jejunum. The triad of findings (failure of the radiopharmaceutical to pass beyond the point of obstruction, marked reflux into the stomach, and nonvisualization of the gallbladder) is nonspecific but, in the appropriate clinical setting, should suggest the possibility of gallstone ileus.

The purpose of this study was to assess the relation between the extent of coronary artery disease (CAD) and size of exercise-induced myocardial hypoperfusion in 79 patients with angiographically documented CAD. None of the patients had Q-wave myocardial infarction. Fifty patients had one-vessel disease, ten had two-vessel disease, and 19 patients had three-vessel or left main disease. Embryonal carcinoma of the ovary in a 17-year-old Saudi girl with complete situs inversus is reported. According to reports since 1936, this is the sixteenth case of cancer associated with complete situs inversus, the second ovarian cancer, the first embryonal carcinoma of the ovary, and the youngest cancer case to be reported in association with this congenital anomaly.

Bilateral dense rings in the renal medulla were found on noncontrasted computed tomography in a patient with marked hypercalcemia and suspected primary hyperparathyroidism. The rings were not present on plain radiographs and were obscured on contrasted scans, and may represent occult nephrocalcinosis. Associated findings--renal insufficiency induced by hypercalcemia and interstitial nephritis--may be reversible with early recognition of this CT finding.

Double-tracer scanning (Tc-99m as pertechnetate and Tl-201 as chloride) with an Anger camera and computerized image subtraction was performed in 61 patients whose clinical and biochemical findings had suggested primary hyperparathyroidism. In order to validate a new method for quantifying coronary blood flow, we injected intravenously a bolus of rubidium-82 (Rb-82) into 28 open-chested dogs under a wide range of flow and physiologic conditions, using beta probes to monitor myocardial radioactivity.
