Restoration of the mandibular compromised ridge requires various treatment modalities. The simplest approach often is to extend the denture base adequately for proper use of all available supporting tissues. We report the cases of four patients who complained of post-exertional shoulder and/or arm discomfort, and who were diagnosed with acute or possible impending axillary-subclavian vein thrombosis. Although there is electromyographic evidence for abdominal muscle activity during quiet breathing in standing subjects, several studies have shown, or assumed, that subjects normally breathe on their relaxation characteristics. To study muscle necrosis due to prolonged limb compression, we measured intramuscular pressure by inserting wick catheters into 10 volar forearms and 10 anterior tibial compartments of adult volunteers. We then placed the subjects in positions in which victims of drug overdose are commonly found. Collagen from bone (femur and calvarium), rib cartilage, skin, tendon, sclera, and cornea has been isolated and purified from a deceased 4-day-old infant with osteogenesis imperfecta congenita.
