Ulcerative colitis is a serious illness affecting the colon. Extracolonic manifestations include sclerosing cholangitis, arthritis, eye diseases, ankylosing spondylitis, and sacroiliitis. Ulcerative colitis may increase a patient's risk of cancer, depending on the duration and extent of the disease. Surgery is the only definitive way to remove the disease in its entirety. Reactive arthritis following infection with enteropathogenic bacteria is usually a self-limiting disease that disappears after a few months without sequela. A male Sikh presented with spontaneous neck pain. Plain cervical radiography showed gross atlantoaxial subluxation (AAS). Computed tomography showed soft tissue anterior to a subluxed odontoid peg. Auranofin is the first oral gold therapy known to be effective at relatively low toxicities. The histocompatibility antigen HLA-B27 was identified in 12 out of 33 patients with acute non-granulomatous anterior uveitis. This is a frequency of 36.36%, compared with 4.72% in controls.
