BACKGROUND: Patients with HPV+ oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) have worse outcomes with longer smoking history (≥ 10 pack-years). This has been confirmed in trials of primary radiotherapy but not surgery, suggesting differential smoking impact by treatment received. We assessed smoking-related outcomes at a single institution.
METHODS: Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional hazards regression compared < 10 versus ≥ 10 pack-years by treatment received for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
RESULTS: Smoking was associated with worse PFS in both primary (chemo)radiation (HR = 1.73

Several investigations have revealed that nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), earlier known as lymphoepithelioma, originates from the nasopharynx epithelium (NPE). The global NPC incidence and mortality distribution reports have reported very high rates (more than 20-30 men per 100,000 men and 10 women per 100,000). Genetic background susceptibilities, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and their complex interaction are expressed as the pathophysiology. Also, radiotherapy of locoregional lesions is the main treatment for NPC because of the extremely radiosensitive feature of the non-keratinizing variety. O

BACKGROUND: Radiation therapy can modulate the tumor microenvironment (TME), influencing antitumor immune responses. This study compared the immunomodulatory effects of alpha-emitting (225Ac) and beta-emitting (177Lu) radiopharmaceutical therapies (RPT) using NM600 in murine prostate cancer models.
METHODS: We assessed immunological changes in TRAMP-C1 and Myc-CaP tumor models treated with 225Ac-NM600 or 177Lu-NM600. Flow cytometry was used to profile immune cell populations, activation markers, and checkpoint molecules, while multiplex assays analyzed cytokine and chemokine expression.

BACKGROUND: Congenital Pulmonary Airway Malformation (CPAM) is a rare lung anomaly in pediatric patients, often diagnosed prenatally or postnatally. Although typically asymptomatic, CPAM can present with severe complications such as recurrent infections or lung abscesses. Thoracic ultrasound (LUS) is emerging as a valuable diagnostic tool, offering a non-invasive and radiation-free alternative to traditional imaging.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a 2-year-old girl with persistent fever, cervical lymphadenopathy, and elevated inflammatory markers, initially raising suspicion for in

BACKGROUND: Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is increasingly recognized as a valuable tool for mediastinal assessment in children, particularly in resource-limited settings where advanced radiological options such as computed tomography (CT) scans are often unavailable. In high-income countries, POCUS is gaining traction as a complementary imaging method, offering a safer, radiation-free alternative.
METHODS: To overcome the operator-dependent nature of mediastinal POCUS, a standardized protocol was developed. The protocol includes clear techniques and detailed descriptions of normal and path

BACKGROUND: Through the evolution of novel wing structures, bats (Order Chiroptera) became the only mammalian group to achieve powered flight. This achievement preceded the massive adaptive radiation of bats into diverse ecological niches. We investigate some of the developmental processes that underlie the origin and subsequent diversification of one of the novel membranes of the bat wing: the plagiopatagium, which connects the fore- and hind limb in all bat species.
RESULTS: Our results suggest that the plagiopatagium initially arises through novel outgrowths from the body flank that subseq

BACKGROUND: Genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) of cancer are powerful tools to study mechanisms of disease progression and therapy response, yet little is known about how these models respond to multimodality therapy used in patients. Radiation therapy (RT) is frequently used to treat localized cancers with curative intent, delay progression of oligometastases, and palliate symptoms of metastatic disease.
METHODS: Here we report the development, testing, and validation of a platform to immobilize and target tumors in mice with stereotactic ablative RT (SART). Xenograft and autochthon
