BACKGROUND: Blunt chest injuries are usually combined with multiple rib fractures and severe lung contusions. This can occasionally induce acute respiratory failure and prolong ventilations. In order to reduce the periods of ventilator dependency, we propose a less invasive method of fixing multiple rib fractures.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to compare the Ilizarov circular fixator (IL) and locked intramedullary nailing (IM).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients with isolated tibia shaft fractures were randomly allocated to either the IL (n = 31) or IM (n = 27) method. The aim of this study was to assess the union rates in a series of patients with failed femoral shaft aseptic non-union who were treated with percutaneous concentrated autologous bone marrow grafting. Bone marrow harvesting and cell injection were performed under general anaesthesia in a single surgical procedure. UNLABELLED: We designed and evaluated a modified cyst index using the Picture Archiving and Communication System software for treating simple bone cysts of the proximal humerus by preventive intramedullary flexible nail insertion in symptomatic children or adolescents. BACKGROUND: Subungual squamous cell carcinoma (SSCC) is the most common malignancy of the nail unit. Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) is a microscopically controlled surgical technique that has a high cure rate for skin cancers despite allowing narrow surgical margins.

The treatment of complex fractures of the distal tibia, ankle, and talus with soft tissue damage, bone loss, and nonreconstructable joints for which the optimal timing for reduction and fixation has been missed is challenging. In such cases primary arthrodesis might be a treatment option. We report a series of multi-injured patients with severe soft tissue damage and bone loss, who were treated with a retrograde tibiotalocalcaneal arthrodesis nail as a minimally invasive treatment option for limb salvage. After a median follow-up of 5.4 years, all patients returned to their former profession.
