HOX genes are essential regulators of development in all multicellular organisms, including humans. We have previously shown that HOXA10 is expressed in the developing uterus and later in the adult human endometrium. HOX genes regulate endometrial development in response to sex steroids. Laparoscopic surgery is currently the preferred diagnostic and treatment modality for ectopic pregnancy (EP). Cornual pregnancy, a rare and dangerous form of EP, is usually treated by cornual resection or hysterectomy. We report the first case to be treated by laparoscopic surgery. Of 11 women with a diagnosis of complete septate uterus, 7 did not undergo any surgical correction, whereas 4 underwent metroplasty. From 1967 to 1975 the authors performed 500 hysterosalpingographies in 851 women examined for sterility.
