[Double-blind comparative study of trimethroprim-sulphacetamide-polymyxin b and gentamicin in the treatment of otorrhoea (author's transl)].

A double-blind comparative study of the use of Garamycine (gentamicin) ear drops and TSP (trimethroprim-sulphacetamide-polomyxin B) ear drops in the treatment of 100 cases of otorrhoea due to external otitis, a recurrent otitis media accompanied by perforation of the drum, an infection of the mastoid cavity or a postoperative infection, provided evidence of the effectiveness of both medications. TSP ear drops gave positive results in 42 out of 50 cases treated, whilst for gentamicin aural solution results were positive for 46 out of 50 cases. A multiclinic double-blind trial of pyridinolcarbamate and inositol niacinate in ischemic ulcer due to chronic arterial occlusion.

A double-blind multiclinic trial compared the efficacies of pyridinolcarbamate and inositol niacinate in the patients with the ischemic ulcer due to chronic arterial occlusion. A thrice-daily dose of 1.5 g of pyridinolcarbamate or 1.2 g of inositol niacinate was given at random to the patients during cold seasons, and the effectiveness of treatment was assessed mainly on the basis of the clinical course of the ischemic ulcer and the rest pain. The patients were classified into 4- and 6-week groups. Beneficial results were recorded in 16 of 32 cases (50.0%) of the 4-week pyridinolcarbamate grou

A placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of Benorylate tablets in the treatment of bursitis and synovitis due to sports injury.

In this two-week study, Benoral tablets, at a 4.5 g daily dosage were compared with a matching placebo in 20 patients suffering from sports injury. Four assessments were made: pain at rest, pain on movement, tenderness and soft tissue swelling. In each case the active treatment group (benorylate) was statistically greater than that in the placebo group at one week and after two weeks' treatment.

Amantadine in Parkinson's disease. A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study with long-term follow-up.

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study with long-term follow-up of amantadien i- Parkinson's disease was performed on 26 patients. Other antiparkinsonian medications were discontinued in all but three patients. Amantadine resulted in a statistically significant 12 percent overall improvement over placebo. Twenty of 26 patients, without breaking the code, selected amantadine for long-term usage. Ten patients continued treatment for 10 to 12 months, and an overall statistically significant improvement was noted at 2 weeks and at 1, 2, 3, and 10 to 12 months. Improvements in tremor a

Addressing the Engagement Blind Spot: 12-Tip Tutorial to Make Reasoning Audible in Health Professions Education.

Student engagement reforms have increased active learning in higher education. However, visible participation does not always require students to rehearse the spoken, interactive forms of reasoning central to professional practice, such as explaining one's thinking, responding to challenges, building on others' ideas, and working through uncertainty in real time. We describe this gap as an engagement blind spot. We define audible reasoning as the deliberate externalization of disciplinary or professional reasoning through spoken interaction so that its assumptions, evidence, uncertainty, and j
