Case 1. A 55-year-old male visited our hospital complaining of dysuria and two-staged micturition. Physical examination revealed a fist sized, elastic soft mass in the left inguinal region. Upright drip infusion pyelography (DIP) showed left inguinal hernia of the bladder. Retrograde urethrography showed bladder neck contracture and a diverticulum. Cystoscopy revealed a indentation in the left bladder wall. Urodynamic studies demonstrated organic obstruction in the lower urinary tract. The oocyst morphology and endogenous development of Eimeria stigmosa Klimes, 1963 in a domestic goose (Anser anser domesticus L.) was studied using light and electron microscopy. A total of 17 cases of remnants of urachus were examined between 1981 and 1989, including 2 cases of patent urachus, 5 of urachal cyst, 9 of urachal sinus, and 1 of urachal diverticulum. A long urachal sinus was considered to be caused by the self-destruction of a cyst. While patent urachus was diagnosed in neonates with urine discharge from the umbilicus, cysts or sinuses accompanied by infection were more often found in older children. Ten consecutive cases of intussusceptions treated by the authors at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) in a five year period are analysed. Of 217 children with vitelline duct anomalies, 85 (40%) had symptomatic lesions (mean age, 2.4 years). Microscopic haematuria was detected by the strip technique in 3.5% (normal: 1.8%) of 2100 men over 40 years of age, systematically examined at their place of work. An analysis is presented of late results in 144 reconstructions of oesophagus with transplants (137 isoperistaltic, 7 anisoperistaltic) from transverse colon for correction of stricture, mainly after corrosive trauma. The grafts were interposed retrosternally in 126 cases and intrathoracically in 18. A retrospective analysis of 143 studies of abdominal scintigraphy with technetium-99m pertechnetate for the diagnosis of ectopic gastric mucosa (usually located in Meckel diverticulum) was undertaken. The rectilinear scanner was used for 57 studies and the gamma camera for 86.
