PURPOSE: Extensive literature exists on normative stereoacuity values for younger children, but there is less information about normative stereoacuity in older children/adults. AIM OF THE STUDY: The objective of this study is to determine the effect of bilateral age-related cataract on stereoacuity. The outcome of cataract surgery is usually measured against the gold standard of visual acuity but stereoacuity necessary for fine motor tasks is often ignored.

Two cases of cerebellar tonsilar herniation due to shunt complications in idiopathic intracranial hypertension are reported in which both patients presented with visual symptoms. Amblyopia is a common visual disorder that results in a spatial acuity deficit in the affected eye. Orthodox treatment is to occlude the unaffected eye for lengthy periods, largely determined by the severity of the visual deficit at diagnosis. INTRODUCTION: Duane syndrome is a difficult condition to treat. Patients and parents need to be informed that it will not resolve and it is not possible to create normal eye movements surgically. Botulinum toxin may be used to assess the likelihood of reducing the abnormal head posture and reducing the diplopia by increasing the field of binocular single vision.
