In this case study, we discuss a rare specimen of syphilis from the Vernon-Roberts Museum of The University of Adelaide. The anatomical specimen has historical and medical implications of syphilis in Australia during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Given the lack of preserved clinical information, the case study underscores the importance of integrating paleopathological evidence with social and historical contexts in understanding disease expression and progression in past populations.

A 16-year-old male patient who underwent a kidney transplant developed a septic shock. A full blood count (FBC) was performed and the presence of monocytosis in the automatic FBC, the overlap between neutrophils and monocytes in the WBC scatter plot, and a "MO blast" flag triggered by the analyzer, led to a peripheral blood film (PBF). PBF revealed the presence of macropolycytes that were erroneously count as monocytes by the analyzer. Macropolycytes can play an important role as a sepsis biomarker.

This report highlights a coronary artery anomaly (CAA) involving three right coronary arteries (RCAs) arising from the anterior aortic sinus and a single left coronary artery (LCA) from the left posterior aortic sinus. BACKGROUND: Myocardial bridge (MB) is described as an abnormal band of myocardium covering a variable portion of any coronary artery.
METHODS: The current study explores the presence of MB throughout the coronary arterial system and provides a morphometric description through instrumented dissection of a sample of 100 human hearts. The study shows a higher prevalence of MB in the Mexican population than in previous reports.

Vermiform appendix is a highly variable organ, which is an enigma to the surgeon in terms of its position, size and symptoms. Attachment of its tip to the surrounding organs is relatively rare. Here we present a rare variation of vermiform appendix. The appendix was 12cm long and was in retrocecal and retrocolic position. Its tip was attached to the right lobe of the liver through a fibrous band which was 2cm long. This variation might pose difficulties in appendicular resection, renal and hepatic surgeries.
