The interactions of formaldehyde (FA), glyoxal (Gly) and methylglyoxal (MGly) with hydroxylamine (HA) isolated in solid argon and nitrogen were studied using FTIR spectroscopy and ab initio methods. The spectra analysis indicates the formation of two types of hydrogen-bonded complexes between carbonyl and hydroxylamine in the studied matrices. The cyclic planar complexes are stabilized by O-H⋯O(C), and C-H⋯N interactions and the nonplanar complexes are stabilized by O-H⋯O(C) bond. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Temperature feedback control (TFC) during laser-assisted tissue welding was implemented to eliminate exponential increases in the rate of denaturation associated with rapidly increasing temperatures. This study was undertaken to investigate and compare the weld strengths and healing responses of laser welded enterotomies with and without TFC using a cw Ho:YAG laser and to examine the effects of wavelength on weld strength and histology. We compared cryosurgery with the argon and carbon dioxide lasers in a rabbit model to evaluate the permanence of eyelash destruction as well as the gross and histologic effects on the eyelid. Each modality was equally effective in preventing eyelash regrowth. Between 1978 and 1992, 5310 eyes in 4317 cases were treated by laser photocoagulation at our clinic. Argon, krypton and dye lasers with slit lamp microscope were used 7556 times for 4446 eyes. We report the synthesis, compositional, structural and magnetic properties of permalloy powders prepared using an arc-discharge method under different atmospheres. Ion beam analysis results showed that powder prepared in air had a higher concentration of oxygen than those prepared under nitrogen or argon atmospheres. Authoritative experience in the management of hypotonous cyclodialysis clefts is difficult to obtain because of their rarity. In 30 experiments we perfused the fetal side of the sheep placenta with fluids which had different solubilities for argon, N2, and O2 (dextran, blood, and fluorocarbon emulsions). In some of the experiments we partially exchange-transfused the ewe with the fluorocarbon emulsion.
