Brachymetatarsia is the > 5 mm shortening of the metatarsal parabolic arc of the foot, in one or more metatarsals. BACKGROUND: The purpose of our retrospective study was to evaluate the preliminary result of distraction osteogenesis in patient with tibial shortening after initial union of Congenital Pseudarthrosis of the Tibia (CPT).
METHODS: All the CPT cases with tibial shortening after initial union managed by proximal tibial lengthening using Ilizarov technique were identified. All the patient charts and radiograms were reviewed.

BACKGROUND: A clinical scenario in the esthetic zone is the presence of short clinical crowns, which, in the absence of occlusal wear and other injuries, is referred to as altered passive eruption (APE). The presence of APE can lead to esthetic issues, which can impact the patient's smile harmony. In esthetically demanding cases, APE must be addressed prior to or in conjunction with implant therapy, and failure to do so can result in esthetic complications and failure in prosthetic planning. This case report exhibits a digital workflow in treating such patients to achieve optimal outcomes.

A soft tissue defect is one of the most difficult problems that may accompany bone defects. Plastic surgery is often required. The use of a split muscle flap widens the indications of unilateral external fixation in the treatment of type IIIB open tibial fractures with large bone defects. The same frame can be used for early stabilization and for secondary distraction lengthening procedures. The use of a split flap allows an easy, safe, and painless pin migration. The combination of these techniques represents a very safe solution, especially for patients in poor general and vascular condition.

A 7-yr-old girl presented with progressive shortening of the right upper arm and limitation of shoulder motion. Pseudohypoparathyroidism associated with Albright's hereditary osteodystrophy was diagnosed by biochemical, hormonal and radiographic studies. Her condition was complicated by severe humerus varus on the right side. Proximal humeral valgization osteotomy and concomitant humeral lengthening resulted in an improvement of the shoulder joint motion and activity in daily life.

Twenty patients with Kienböck's disease who had undergone a joint levelling procedure, were reviewed at a mean of 11 years following surgery. PURPOSE: To systematically review the efficacy, safety, and outcomes of limb lengthening procedures in patients with achondroplasia, including effects on quality of life.
METHODS: Following PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review and meta-analysis was performed. Eligible studies included patients with achondroplasia who underwent limb lengthening of the upper and/or lower extremities. Data were extracted on length gain, external fixator index, fixation duration, complications, and quality of life. Pooled means and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated using single-arm meta-analysis.

Gradual femoral lengthening causes loss of knee motion due to soft tissue tightness. Lengthening with an intramedullary device would be expected to retain good knee movements since it avoids soft tissue transfixation.
