The purpose of this paper is to present the general guidelines, including implementation of principles of motor learning in the course of the rehabilitation of the shoulder in overhead athletes. The focus is on treating the most common injury pattern of overhead athletes being rotator cuff pathology with secondary bursitis and finally microtraumatic instability. Specific criteria are discussed to determine when the athlete can return to unrestricted sport participation.

Groin pain in the soccer athlete is a common problem accounting for 5% of soccer injuries. Groin distribution has proved to be the most common cause of groin pain. Other causes are direct trauma, ostetis pubis, muscle injuries, fractures, bursitis, hip problems, and hernia and referred pain. Soccer players with groin pain present a complex management problem that is discussed.

In brief Enlargements at the calcaneal brief attachment of the Achilles tendon can cause heel pain. These bumps usually result from rigid, poorly fitting heel counters and are more likely to occur in patients who have a prominent posterosuperior portion of the calcaneus (Haglund's deformity). Extrinsic irritation on this prominence can give rise to bursitis or Achilles tendinitis (Haglund's disease).

Galucoma may be one of a set of "baropathic" disorders including tinnitus, Meniere's disease, arthritis and bursitis caused by transport dysfunction in the "tissue membranes" of the set of closed "tissue cells" envisioned by The Tissue Cell Theory of Metazoa and which result, in turn, from prostaglandin disturbances induced by primary or secondary essential fatty acid deficiencies possibly coupled with immunopathic effects.

Frozen shoulder (FS), or adhesive capsulitis, remains a challenging clinical entity due to its insidious onset, variable presentation, and diagnostic overlap with other shoulder pathologies. While FS is traditionally diagnosed clinically, musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) is emerging as a valuable adjunct tool capable of identifying early-stage structural and vascular changes. This review synthesizes the current evidence on MSKUS's diagnostic utility, highlighting its capacity to visualize characteristic features such as capsular thickening, rotator interval (RI) hypervascularity, and effusio

BACKGROUND AND AIMS:: Even though hydrodilatation has been used for 50 years, the evidence on its effectiveness is not clear. Only one earlier review has strictly focused on this treatment method. The aims of this study are to evaluate the evidence on the effectiveness of hydrodilatation in treatment of adhesive capsulitis and, if appropriate, to assess the correlation between the effects of this procedure and the amount of fluid injected.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:: A literature search on MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Cochrane Central, Web of Science, and CINAHL databases was done; random-effects met

Partial-body F-18 FDG PET/CT was performed in a 40-year-old woman with a soft tissue tumor at the left elbow. She had rheumatoid arthritis for several years. PET/CT showed moderate FDG uptake (SUV max. 4.2) in the known soft tissue lesion. The tumor was resected and histology revealed rheumatoid granulomas with bursitis.

From 1991 to 2003, 20 patients with pasteurellosis were admitted to our unit, of whom 2 died. They presented with cellulitis (n = 14), arthritis (n = 6), pneumonia (n = 3), subcutaneous abscess (n = 3), bursitis (n = 2), meningitis, otitis, sinusitis and uveitis. Underlying diseases included diabetes (n = 6) and malignancy (n = 5). Diabetes could be a predisposing condition for pasteurellosis.

A 54-year-old man was admitted for tenosynovitis of the wrists, olecranon bursitis, stiffness, progressive flexion of the fingers, subcutaneous nodules, and persistent blood eosinophilia. A high eosinophil count was detected in his synovial fluid. We review the literature on idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome. This case provides evidence that nonerosive polyarthritis with periarticular involvement and nodules can be manifestations of this syndrome.

A knowledge of anatomy, coupled with an awareness of biomechanical factors such as shoes, hosiery and other environmental agents, provides sufficient expertise for treating the majority of foot ailments. Simple, easily constructed devices alleviate common problems such as corns, calluses and bursitis secondary to athletic activity. The podiatric manifestations of diabetes and peripheral vascular disease are effectively managed by regular foot care from the family physician.

The postmyocardial infarction syndrome usually presents weeks after acute myocardial infarction as pericarditis associated with fever, leukocytosis, high sedimentation rate and pulmonary infiltrations. The unusual feature of the case discussed here was severe left shoulder pain resembling subdeltoid bursitis. Subsequently signs of pleuritis appeared prior to the classical picture of Dressler's syndrome. There was a dramatic response of steroid therapy.

The MR imaging features of fluid collections and juxta-articular cystic lesions of the shoulder are discussed, with special focus on those related to subacromial impingement and rotator cuff tears. Other more unusual fluid collections and cystic lesions are described, including rice-bodies bursitis, idiopathic synovial osteochondromatosis, dialysis-related amyloid arthropathy, hemophilic arthropathy, infectious conditions, non-infectious inflammatory arthritis, and paralabral cysts.

MR imaging of arthropathies and inflammatory conditions affecting the elbow are presented. Noninfectious conditions discussed include osteoarthritis, disorders characterized by synovial proliferation, pigmented villo- nodular synovitis, synovial osteochondromatosis, crystal deposition disorders, and neuropathic osteoarthropathy. Infectious conditions discussed include septic olecranon bursitis, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, and pyomyositis. Clinical aspects of these entities are discussed, including utility of MR imaging for diagnosis and clinical management.

There are many causes for pain in the region of the ankle and foot. Magnetic resonance imaging can be useful for identifying some of these causes. This article addresses the following etiologies: tarsal tunnel syndrome, sinus tarsi syndrome, osteochondral and stress fractures, the painful accessory navicular, osteonecrosis of the talus, navicular and metatarsal heads, posterior impingement syndrome, bursitis, accessory muscles, Morton's neuroma, and plantar fibromatosis.

Many complications can occur following insertion of silicone elastomer implants into the foot. Postoperative infection may be difficult to distinguish from other conditions such as dislodgment, fracture, ectopic and heterotopic new bone formation, synovitis, and bursitis. White blood cell scintigraphy, in conjunction with the clinical scenario, may prove to be an invaluable tool in the diagnosis of postoperative osteomyelitis, subsequent to implant arthroplasties.

Heel pain is a common and frequently disabling clinical complaint that may be caused by a broad spectrum of osseous or soft-tissue disorders. These disorders are classified on the basis of anatomic origin and predominant location of heel pain to foster a better understanding of this complaint. The disorders include plantar fascial lesions (fasciitis, rupture, fibromatosis, xanthoma), tendinous lesions (tendinitis, tenosynovitis), osseous lesions (fractures, bone bruises, osteomyelitis, tumors), bursal lesions (retrocalcaneal bursitis, retroachilleal bursitis), tarsal tunnel syndrome, and heel …

Adventitious bursae are known to occur from repeated friction and pressure but rarely have been reported in adult amputees. Four cases of adventitious bursae are described, which were noted during the course of a follow-up study of below knee amputees. Two bursae resolved with modification of the socket or refabrication. One developed bursitis and drainage and a fourth persisted in a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus.

Rheumatic pain is usually generalized, but in a variety of conditions it may present as localized and often remain so. These conditions include palindromic rheumatism, osteoarthritis, gout or pseudogout, seronegative spondyloarthropathy, septic arthritis, tendinitis and bursitis, radiculopathy and nerve entrapment, nodular growth, and tendon enlargement. When the presenting feature is focal pain in muscles, joints, or fibrous tissue, the differential diagnosis should include these considerations.
