We describe an immunosuppressed patient with enteric cryptosporidiosis who developed combined cryptosporidial and cytomegaloviral hepatitis and cholecystitis as well as Enterobacter cloacae cholecystitis. To our knowledge, the presence of Cryptosporidium in a liver biopsy specimen has not previously been reported.

UNLABELLED: The urinary bladder is an innovation of eutherian mammals to manage liquid wastes. However, bladder development and its' embryonic function remain poorly understood. Twelve chickens were discovered dead in a barn with a human male suspect observed on closed-circuit television. Post-mortem examination of two of the chickens revealed traumatic injury to the ventral cloaca with fibrinoheterophilic coelomitis associated with coelomic contamination by gut contents. We report on a 3-month-old infant who had diphallus and a mass on the penis. On the undersurface of the mass there were 2 prolapsed mucosal lined tubes and catheterization revealed 2 blind tracts. The rest of the mass was covered by skin. On top of the mass was a pseudophallus with rugae on either side, suggesting formation of a scrotum. Duplication of the urethra and epispadias also were diagnosed. The bladder was single with good sphincteric control. We believe that the mass represents a duplication of the derivatives of primitive ectodermal and endodermal cloaca.
