A Three-Dimensional Surface-Adaptive Stretchable Sensor for Online Monitoring of Composite Materials Curing.

Recently, rigid sensors have been commonly applied to online monitoring of the core curing processes of composite materials to prevent both overcuring and under-curing. However, conventional rigid sensors are prone to causing cracks and bubbles in composite materials during the curing process, thereby affecting both the mechanical performance and the overall reliability of the materials. Herein, stretchable interdigital dielectric sensors with flexible substrates and electrodes are designed to conform to complex 3D surfaces, thus enabling embedded nondestructive monitoring of composite curing

Effect of power density on shrinkage of dental resin materials.

This study compares volumetric changes and rates of shrinkage during different stages of polymerization of dental resin composites and compomers exposed to the same total energy by using two different combinations of power density and exposure duration. A hybrid composite and its equivalent flowable and a compomer and its equivalent flowable were exposed using a halogen curing unit set at 400 mW/cm2 for 40 seconds and 800 mW/cm2 for 20 seconds: delivering 16 J/cm2 in both cases. Volumetric changes were recorded every 0.5 seconds using a mercury dilatometer. Ten replications per test condition

Determination of ethoxylated bisphenol A dimethacrylate monomers in dental composites by micellar electrokinetic chromatography.

Separation of monomeric constituents of ethoxylated bisphenol A (BIS-EMA) with between 2 and 15 ethoxy groups per phenol in the molecule was investigated with micellar electrokinetic chromatography at different volume percentages methanol in the background electrolyte (10 mM sodium dodecylsulfate, 100 mM borate-50 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.0). The conditions allowed the differentiation of the lower from the higher BIS-EMA homologues and of isomers, and enabled the characterisation of commercial dental composite materials. The decay curve for the light induced radical polymerisation of BIS-EMA

Bacterial penetration, pulpal reaction and the inner surface of Concise enamel bond. Composite fillings in etched and unetched cavities.

The sealing properties of resin-composite resin material applied to acid-etched cavities and adjacent enamel were studied in 40 contralateral tooth pairs. This treatment was found to reduce considerably the risk of ingrowth of microorganisms from the surface of the tooth. The resin material did not have any appreciable irritative effect on the pulp; the same was true for the etching procedure. Etching of lateral enamel walls and margins with an acid gel after the application of a liner on dentinal walls was considered to be the procedure recommended before the application of the combination of

Differences in birch tar composition are explained by adhesive function in the central European Iron Age.

Birch bark tar is the most widely documented adhesive in prehistoric Europe. More recent periods attest to a diversification in terms of the materials used as adhesives and their application. Some studies have shown that conifer resins and beeswax were added to produce compound adhesives. For the Iron Age, no comparative large-scale studies have been conducted to provide a wider perspective on adhesive technologies. To address this issue, we identify adhesive substances from the Iron Age in north-eastern France. We applied organic residue analysis to 65 samples from 16 archaeological sites. Th
