[Climate change and mental health. Position paper of a task force of the DGPPN].

Climate change and the resulting higher frequency of extreme weather events have a direct negative impact on mental health. Indirect consequences of climate change, such as food shortages, economic crises, violent conflicts and forced migration, additionally represent severe psychological risk and stress factors. Climate anxiety and solastalgia, the distress induced by environmental change, are new psychological syndromes in the face of the existential thre

Report of the Obstetric APS Task Force: 13th International Congress on Antiphospholipid Antibodies, 13th April 2010.

The Obstetric APS Task Force of the 13th International Congress identified and discussed five general topics within 'Obstetric' Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS) that contained areas of controversy or uncertainty: recurrent early miscarriage (REM), fetal death, delivery <34 weeks for severe preeclampsia or placental insufficiency, postpartum care, and long-term implications and care. The Task Force concluded that the frequency with which women with REM have a high titer of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) or lupus anticoagulant (LA) is somewhat controversial, especially with regard to the diagn

Chronic arthritis in children.

Chronic inflammatory arthritides in children include a wide range of various diseases. One of the main concerns of physicians who treat these disorders is the risk of permanent physical disability resulting from joint damage. Actual classification relies mainly on clinical features, particularly the number of joints affected at onset, although the general feeling is that chronic childhood arthritis exists in many different entities gathered together under the common names juvenile chronic arthritis or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The past 2 years were rather fertile in debates for proposing

Introduction: the metabolic cardiovascular syndrome.

During the last few years new knowledge concerning risk factors for cardiovascular diseases (CVD) has emerged. Many of these are metabolically interrelated. The clustering of a variety of metabolic disorders in individuals prone to develop CVD has led to the launching of the so-called metabolic cardiovascular syndrome (MCVS). At the XIIIth Scandinavian Congress of Cardiology in Oslo, Norway, on June 1991, a satellite symposium was arranged on the MCVS. The present supplement comprises articles written by the symposium speakers, who are all experts in various fields of relevance to the MCVS. In

Strategies and endpoints of antifibrotic drug trials: Summary and recommendations from the AASLD Emerging Trends Conference, Chicago, June 2014.

There is an urgent need to develop antifibrotic therapies for chronic liver disease, and clarify which endpoints in antifibrotic trials will be acceptable to regulatory agencies. In this review, we summarize the salient and novel elements of this conference and provide directions for future clinical trial design. The article follows the structure of the conference and i
