Vehicular whole-body vibration (WBV) can have long-term adverse effects on human quality of life. Animal models can be used to study pathophysiologic effects of vibration. The goal of this study was to assess animal cooperation and well-being to determine the feasibility of a novel seated rat model for investigating the effects of WBV on biologic systems. Twenty-four male Sprague???Dawley rats were used. The experiment consisted of an acclimation phase, 2 training phases (TrP1 and TrP2), and a testing phase (TeP), including weekly radiographic imaging. During acclimation, rats were housed in p

(3-Chloro-4-fluoro-phenyl)-[4-fluoro-4-[[(5-methyl-pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-amino]-methyl]piperidin-1-yl]-methadone (F 13640) is a recently discovered high-efficacy 5-hydroxytryptamine (HT)1A receptor agonist that produces central analgesia through the neuroadaptive mechanisms of inverse tolerance and cooperation. In a rat model of trigeminal neuropathic pain, the chronic constriction injury of the infraorbital nerve causes allodynia-like behavior that develops within 2 weeks and remains stable thereafter. We report that early after surgery, during which time allodynia develops, the continuous 2-we

Current study is the second part of a 2-year cognitive-behavioral-ecological (CB-E) intervention for high-functioning (HF) children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We examined the utility of a group-centered intervention on children's ability to interact cooperatively with peers during structured and non-structured social situations. Direct (e.g., social problem solving) and indirect (theory of mind; executive function) treatment effects on social cognitive capabilities were also examined. Participants were 26 preadolescent HF children with ASD. Study results demonstrated direct and indir

Identifying someone else's noncooperative intentions can prevent exploitation in social interactions. Hence, the inference of another person's mental state might be most pronounced in order to improve social decision-making. Here, we tested the hypothesis that brain regions associated with Theory of Mind (ToM), particularly the right temporo-parietal junction (rTPJ), show higher neural responses when interacting with a selfish person and that the rTPJ-activity as well as cooperative tendencies will change over time. We used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and a modified prisoner's

Armies, churches, organizations, and communities often engage in activities-for example, marching, singing, and dancing-that lead group members to act in synchrony with each other. Anthropologists and sociologists have speculated that rituals involving synchronous activity may produce positive emotions that weaken the psychological boundaries between the self and the group. This article explores whether synchronous activity may serve as a partial solution to the free-rider problem facing groups that need to motivate their members to contribute toward the collective good. Across three experimen

The paper summarizes the first decade of the Developmental Trends Study, a prospective longitudinal study of 177 boys. Initially, they were referred to mental health clinics in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh), and Georgia (Athens and Atlanta). Since 1987, the boys, their parents, and their teachers have been followed up almost annually. The study is unique because the cooperation rate of participants has remained very high over the years, psychiatric diagnoses were derived from structured interviews (especially disruptive behavior disorders), and many risk factors were measured over the years. The p

Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) can be characterized by communication and social interaction difficulties, focused or repetitive behaviors, and an apathetic demeanor. The understanding level of an individual who cannot communicate cannot be assessed; therefore, we cannot assume the level of understanding of some individuals with ASD. Unfortunately, general anesthesia (GA) is oftentimes used for individuals with ASD due to their inability to cooperate, possible aggressive behaviors, and inadvertent movements, without first trying less-restrictive techniques. Beta amyloid (A[Formula: see text] ) associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) leads to abnormal behavior in inhibitory neurons, resulting in hyperactive neuronal networks, epileptiform behavior, disrupted gamma rhythms, and aberrant synaptic plasticity. Previously, we used a dual modeling-experimental approach to explain several observations, including failure to reliably produce action potentials (APs), smaller AP amplitudes, higher resting membrane potential, and higher membrane depolarization in response to a range of stimuli in hippocampal inhibitory neurons from 12- to 16-month-old female

In Parkinson's disease (PD), dopaminergic (DA) neurons deteriorate within the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc), causing movement difficulties. This deterioration can be modeled in rats given large, unilateral DA-depleting lesions of the nigrostriatal pathway using the neurotoxin 6-hydroxydopamine. The behavioral benefits promoted by classic L-DOPA pharmacotherapy typically do not include skilled limb use restoration. Among deteriorative diseases, the single neurotransmitter loss in PD allows for a more discrete or focused replacement goal. Stem cell therapy (SCT) would be more likely to he

Healthcare delivery now exceeds the cognitive and operational capacity of individual clinicians, making effective teams the core units of clinical performance. Professionalism serves as a stabilizing force within these systems. This review presents an evidence-based leadership framework for building and sustaining high-performing clinical teams through coordinated intelligence: the collective ability to rapidly integrate distributed expertise to improve patient outcomes. Clinical leadership therefore centers on creating teams capable of consistent collective excellence, grounded in individual

PURPOSE: Healthcare professionals in Norwegian local hospitals have focused on the need for improved trauma care since the late 1990s. Because of lack of national guidelines the hospital management of patients with serious trauma varied. The authors and colleague health care providers felt a need for improvement. Therefore, a project called Better & Systematic Trauma care (BEST) was established. The goal was to improve trauma care through training and preparation for infrequently occurring situations, with a focus on the team. METHODS: The project began as a bottom-up initiative in four local

OBJECTIVE: Youth weight management is a complex public health challenge requiring coordinated action across settings, with schools serving as primary implementation environments. This study examined how Chinese national policies allocate school responsibilities and configure external collaborative support.
METHODS: Thirty-six national policy documents issued in China between 2016 and 2025 were systematically analyzed. Unlike one-dimensional frequency analyses, the proposed framework linked policy targets, instruments, and implementing actors through three cross-dimensional co-occurrence matri

Across two experiments using the Compound Remote Associates Test (cRAT), we examined whether collaboration improves or impedes the ability to find remote associations. Participants worked either jointly in dyads or in parallel. In both experiments, joint dyads solved fewer problems and required more time to reach correct solutions, indicating a consistent performance cost of collaboration. In Experiment 1, joint dyads also generated fewer solution attempts and showed greater semantic similarity between consecutive ideas, consistent with the hypothesis of collaborative fixation. In Experiment 2

INTRODUCTION: Partnering with patients, close others and the public (users), termed patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), is essential to ensure relevant and impactful health research. To date, definitions of effective collaborations between users and researchers to plan and evaluate such collaborations are scarce. Therefore, building consensus on what makes user-researcher collaborations effective and genuine is an important step. The goal of this co-designed study was to define and establish expert agreement on key quality indicators for the evaluation of such partnerships in
