Clinical significance of first trimester crown-rump length disparity in dichorionic twin gestations.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to determine the clinical significance of first trimester crown-rump disparity in dichorionic twin gestations. STUDY DESIGN: Ultrasound examinations of dichorionic twin pregnancies between 11 and 14 weeks of gestation were evaluated for growth discordance using crown-rump length. Medical records were reviewed for antenatal complications that included spontaneous abortion, fetal death, fetal structural or chromosomal anomalies, and preterm delivery. Fisher's exact test was used for statistical analysis; a probability value of <.05 was considered signifi

The significance of crown-rump length measurement for predicting adverse pregnancy outcome of threatened abortion.

OBJECTIVES: To determine if in women with threatened miscarriage the measurement of fetal crown-rump length (CRL) is a useful predictor of spontaneous miscarriage and small for gestational age (SGA) infants. METHODS: Fetal CRL was measured in 310 singleton pregnancies with live fetuses, presenting with threatened miscarriage before 13 weeks of gestation. The relationship between fetal CRL and pregnancy outcome was investigated. RESULTS: In fetuses with CRL < 18 mm there was a significant positive association between the deficit in CRL for gestation and the incidence of subsequent spontaneous

Nuchal translucency thickness and crown-rump length in twin pregnancies with chromosomally abnormal fetuses.

We retrospectively examined the crown-rump length and nuchal translucency thickness of each fetus in eight twin pregnancies in which karyotyping at 10 to 14 weeks' gestation demonstrated that at least one of the fetuses was chromosomally abnormal. Eight fetuses had trisomy 21 and two had trisomy 18. The nuchal translucency thickness was more than 2.5 mm in nine (90%) of the trisomic fetuses and in one of the chromosomally normal ones. In contrast, the crown-rump length was below the fifth percentile in only one of the fetuses with trisomy 18; all other measurements were within the normal range

Maxillary permanent central incisor with abnormal crown size and dens invaginatus: case report.

An otherwise healthy young caucasian Australian was referred because of the unusual radiographic appearance of a maxillary permanent incisor. The tooth was found to have an enlarged crown with palatal cusp and dens invaginatus. Over five years' follow-up the tooth showed no signs of pulp necrosis. The major problem was the correction of the patient's esthetics as he approached adulthood.

Silver-modified atraumatic restorative technique (SMART) with conventional stainless steel crowns for management of dental caries: a case series.

Stainless steel crowns (SSCs) consistently yield optimal outcomes for the treatment of dental caries and devel¬opmental defects in pediatric patients. These crowns provide a proper seal, thus preventing the advancement of dental caries. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) has also proven effective in halting the progression of dental caries, but it does not improve the functionality of the tooth. Thus, combining the remineralizing potential of SDF with an SSC as part of the silver-modified atrau¬matic restorative technique (SMART) can have a syner¬gistic effect, simultaneously treating dental caries…
