Open rhinoplasty has acquired widespread recognition in the surgical community in recent years. For many years, traditional closed rhinoplasty was the only possibility for correction of most deformities of the nose. Although it is not the only alternative to difficult nasal problems, the wide exposure achieved with the open technique, the excellent results obtained in the management of the tip and its use as a training procedure for residents, accounts for the new resurgence of the popularity of the technique.

The effect of dietary zinc deficiency on the breaking strength of abdominal skin incisions was studied in rats 21 days postoperatively. Zinc deficiency was induced with a low-zinc diet (1.4 mg zinc/kg diet) 14 days preoperatively. Data from the records of 112 patients who were treated by dermatome shaving for psoriasis vulgaris were analysed. We present our experience in functional reconstruction of the Achilles tendon with large tissue defects following after trauma and infection. To cover the skin defect and to reconstruct the Achilles tendon we used the free tensor fasciae latae (TFL) flap. OBJECTIVE: To observe the long-term results of free skin-grafted penoscrotal avulsion injury.
METHODS: Two young males with penoscrotal avulsion injuries were followed up after repair by free skin grafting.
RESULTS: Good cosmetic results were attained without any contracture of the free skin grafts, and the sperm quality was normal at the late stage.
CONCLUSION: For young males, the best treatment for penoscrotal avulsion injuries is free skin grafting, while skin flaps are not recommended for reconstructing the scrotum.
