Opto-magnetic imaging spectroscopy in analyzing rotary NiTi endodontic instruments.

Intra-canal fracture of rotary NiTi instruments occurs due to torsional stress, cyclic fatigue, or a combination of these two factors. Broken instruments are a serious obstacle to shaping, cleaning, and filling of the root canal and can adversely affect the outcome of endodontic therapy. The aim of this study was to examine the magnetic properties and ultrastructural changes of new, used, and fractured NiTi instruments using opto-magnetic imaging spectroscopy (OMIS). The study included three sets of different types of rotary instruments: MTwo (VDW, Munich, Germany), Pro Taper Universal (Dentsp

Failure of Regenerative Endodontic Procedures: Case Analysis and Subsequent Treatment Options.

INTRODUCTION: Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) are considered effective treatments for immature necrotic permanent teeth, with favorable outcomes. However, failed cases require subsequent treatment. This study aimed to review and analyze failed cases after REPs and suggest a treatment algorithm to aid clinical decision-making. METHODS: A total of 111 REP cases were selected that were conducted between 2015 and 2020. Clinical outcomes were assessed based on clinical and radiographic evaluations. The criteria for failure included persistence of clinical signs or symptoms and/or periapi

Success of Occlusal Aperture Access for Endodontic Therapy of Canine Teeth in Dogs.

The objective of this study was to determine the success of the natural crowns of endodontically treated canine teeth in pet dogs, instrumented and obturated using rotary driven non-taper nickel titanium files, through an occlusal access preparation, without the placement of a prosthetic cast metal crown. A search of medical records at a private veterinary dental referral practice was conducted to identify pet dogs having had endodontic treatment of one or more canine teeth over an eleven-year period (2007-2018). Follow up, performed by the same veterinary dental specialist, included a complet

Leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin in endodontic microsurgery: a report of 2 cases.

Endodontic microsurgery is a predictable treatment option when orthograde treatment or retreatment is unsuccessful or unfeasible. However, when there is a gross compromise of periapical bone, achievement of bone regeneration after the surgical procedure may be hampered. In such cases, the application of guided tissue regeneration principles, with adjunctive use of leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin to fill the bone defect as a bone substitute and as a membrane to cover the site, provides a cost-effective solution with the benefits of accelerated physiological healing and reduced post-surgical pain

Effectiveness of endodontic tissue engineering in treatment of apical periodontitis: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Regenerative endodontics has evolved in recent years with tissue engineering concepts in particular appearing promising. Endodontic tissue engineering (ETE) describes the various approaches based on the orthograde introduction of scaffolds or biomaterials (with or without cells) into the root canal to achieve pulp tissue regeneration. There are currently no systematic reviews investigating whether ETE is a suitable method for the treatment of endodontic disease in both mature and immature permanent teeth. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this systematic review was to determine the effec…

Post-traumatic Trigeminal Neuropathy Associated With Endodontic Therapy: A Systematic Review.

A painful or non-painful trigeminal nerve lesion brought on by trauma that exhibits symptoms and/or clinical evidence of trigeminal nerve dysfunction is known as painful post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathy (PTTN). In relation to this, the term post-traumatic persistent dentoalveolar pain (PDAP) is an idiopathic condition of chronic neuropathic origin that manifests as a diagnostic challenge for dental practitioners. Neuropathic pain is defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) as "pain initiated or caused by a primary lesion or dysfunction in the nervous system." P

Single-visit nonsurgical endodontic treatment of maxillary sinusitis: A case series.

The etiopathology of maxillary sinusitis of dental origin (MSDO) is well established, and chronic apical periodontitis is the second most common cause of all dental-induced sinusitis incidents. The literature presents no common treatment protocols for MSDO and very few studies address the impact of root canal treatment (RCT) in its management. The literature presents cases of maxillary sinusitis resolution after performing a multivisit nonsurgical endodontic treatment, yet none described complete healing of MSDO as a result of single-visit nonsurgical RCT. This paper reports a case series of m

In-Silico modulation of Interleukin-8 (IL8) for the therapeutic management of endodontic pulpitis.

Emerging clinical evidences highlight the association of Interleukin-8 (IL8) with endodontic pulpitis. Relatively higher expression of IL8 has been found in the pulp samples of pulpitis patients with moderate/severe pain. It is speculated that IL8 can be considered as a potential target for therapeutics of endodontic pulpitis. A library consisting of 3072 small molecules from the ZINC database was used to identify potential lead molecules with drug-like properties against the IL8. Based on the in-silico structure-assisted drug designing involving molecular docking, MD simulations, and MMPBSA a
