PURPOSE: To examine the supraciliochoroidal fluid(SCF) by ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM) at an early stage after trabeculectomy.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Fifteen eyes without post-operative complications were examined by UBM before the operation and less than 2 weeks after trabeculectomy with mitomycin C.

A 61-year-old diabetic man had fever and a significant exudative type of eosinophilic pleural effusion. Microscopic examination of stained specimens of bronchial washings revealed filariform larvae of Strongyloides stercoralis. This intestinal nematode is endemic in some areas of the world. Pulmonary symptoms are usually mild, though severe pulmonary involvement may be occasionally seen. Although serohemorrhagic pleural effusion has been well reported in the literature, we found no report of such an unusual case of significant exudative eosinophilic pleural effusion due to strongyloidiasis.

OBJECTIVE: We sought to determine the importance of postmenopausal endometrial fluid collection, which has almost invariably been accepted as a finding of a malignant process.
METHODS: Out of 1,500 postmenopausal patients admitted to our center mainly for their postmenopausal symptoms, endometrial fluid collection was detected in 15 cases during transvaginal pelvic ultrasonographic evaluations. These patients were evaluated with cervical smears as well as endocervical and endometrial curretages. The fluid collections were aspirated and measured.

A total of 93 breast cyst fluids (BCF) obtained by needle aspiration of women suffering from gross cystic mastopathy was hormonally investigated. The mean age of the patients was 45 years (range 27-65). Estradiol (E2), progesterone (PROG), testosterone (TE), prolactin (PROL), estriol (E3), dehydroisoandrosterone and its sulfate (DHA, DHA-S) levels were investigated in the BCF and in the respective sera. The prevalence and clinical evolution of popliteal cysts in children with knee arthritis is not well known. Using ultrasonography, we studied 44 children with clinically detectable knee effusions secondary to juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (n = 35), spondyloarthritis (n = 3) and psoriatic (n = 2), septic (n = 2) and lupus (n = 2) associated arthritis. A sensitive sandwich ELISA has been developed to measure the levels of Pseudomonas aeruginosa elastase (PE) in ear discharges from chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) patients. Fifty-two patients with ocular sarcoidosis were studied to determine how intraocular tissues are affected in this disease. Proteolytic enzymes may be involved in blister formation in dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). We have examined collagenase, gelatinase and elastase-like enzyme activities in fluids collected from spontaneous blisters and from suction blisters raised on developing DH-lesions induced by application of potassium iodide. An enzyme immunoassay was used to measure the levels of bradykinin (BK)-like immunoreactivity in inflammatory exudates provoked by calcium pyrophosphate (CaPP) or carrageenin. Chlamydial cervicitis is a common and important infection. Diagnostic cytologic criteria have been proposed, but not generally accepted. Eosinophils have been described in the infiltrates of granuloma annulare, but their frequency, distribution and extent are not well documented. Laboratory and clinical investigation of T-1982 (cefbuperazone) in the field of obstetrics and gynecology were carried out and the following results were obtained.
