Vaginal fluconazole (FLZ) prolonged release tablets containing chitosan in physical blends with other bioadhesive polymers were designed. Chitosan was mixed with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), guar gum or sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) at different ratios and directly compressed into tablets.
