We report the only known case of intracardiac vena cava filter migration resulting in valvular dysfunction. Echocardiographic evaluation documented the filter stenting open the tricuspid valve, with wide-open regurgitation. This case, as well as 22 cases of filter migration reported in the English literature, are used as a background to review prevention and treatment strategies.

We describe a new technique using ultrasound guided puncture of the subclavian vein and fluoroscopic control of the guide wire and the catheter position. Using this technique we performed 70 catheter introductions in 54 patients at the radiological department of the University Hospital of Rotterdam. Long term administration of chemotherapy was the most frequent indication for introduction of the Hickman catheter. Intrauterine devices have been plagued by many early and late complications, including uterine perforation and migration into adjacent structures. To our knowledge only 18 cases have been reported in the literature of migration of an intrauterine device into the bladder. We report on a 38-year-old woman in whom an intrauterine device eroded from the uterus 3 years after placement. The device remained asymptomatic in the pelvis for an additional 13 years before the patient presented with urinary symptoms. The literature is reviewed.

This article describes a cases of "missing strings" of a Zipper IUD embeded in an intracavitary myoma. Two attempts with classical procedures failed to remove it and the diagnosis was done after a hysteroscopy complicated with uterine perforation. It is very difficult to assure if the myoma grew around the IUD or it was perforated at the time of its insertion. Histological evidences lead to the first option.

The literature on tympanic epidermal migration is reviewed. From isotope experiments and whole-mount autoradiographs the tympanic mitotic activity appeared to be confined to an area close to the annulus typmpanicus. There have been reports on the migration of teeth or implants into the maxillary sinus. We know of only one report on the migration of a gutta-percha point that had been used to fill a root canal into the ethmoid sinus. We report such a case treated with an endoscopically assisted procedure for removal of the foreign body and contemporary endodontic surgical treatment of the tooth.

CASE PRESENTATION: A case of index finger's flexor digitorum profundus tendon primary reconstruction with the use of Mitek anchor is presented here. Within a 14 month period, Mitek suture anchor caused local foreign body reaction with osteolysis and ulceration of the palmar skin of the finger while on the other hand tendon's healing was successfully completed.

HISTORY AND FINDINGS UPON ADMISSION: A 50-year-old man presented at the emergency unit with abdominal pain in the right lower quadrant and dysuria. He described an increase in pain during micturition.
EXAMINATIONS: After multiple examinations (CT-scan, MR-scan, ileocolonoscopy) were performed to no avail, a toothpick was detected in the terminal ileum during an ultrasound scan of the small intestine.
