Beyond dose: an occupational health perspective on architecture as an overlooked component of dental radiology exposure in industrial settings.

Dental X-ray imaging is widely used in daily dental practice and is usually considered safe because radiation doses are low. This belief mainly comes from studies carried out in hospitals and standard dental clinics, where walls and rooms are built with proper radiation shielding. However, dental radiology is not always performed in such environments. In many industrial and corporate workplaces, dental clinics are located inside office buildings that use thin, lightweight, or prefabricated walls. In these settings, wall shielding might be overlooked, absent or not regularly checked. During den

Occupational therapists' experiences in Australia's primary mental health funding scheme: Navigating complexity in a constrained system.

INTRODUCTION: Occupational therapists in the Australian context provide significant value to mental health, including through Better Access, a Medicare initiative that gives individuals access to up to 10 sessions with a psychologist, social worker, or occupational therapist following a referral from a medical practitioner. However, the experiences of occupational therapists working under the initiative are not widely understood, with no recent occupational therapy-specific research. This study aims to explore the experiences of occupational therapists working under Better Access, their distin

Perceptions of Occupational Risk and Adherence to Tuberculosis Prevention Among Health Care Workers: Protocol for a Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem around the world. Health care workers (HCWs) are at a much higher risk of contracting TB because they are often working around sick people in clinical settings. Even though HCWs play a key role in controlling TB, we still do not fully understand how they see this risk and how it affects their willingness to follow preventive measures. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to examine the existing body of knowledge on HCWs' perceived risks of TB and how these perceptions impact their adherence to TB prevention measures. The results of this sco

Air Pollution Emissions 2008-2018 from Australian Coal Mining: Implications for Public and Occupational Health.

Occupational exposure limits for respirable coal dust are based on exposure during working hours, but coal miners may experience additional community-based exposures during nonworking hours. We analyzed Australia National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) data for the years 2008-2018 to estimate air pollutants (metals, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter ≤ 10 micrometers (PM10) and ≤2.5 micrometers (PM2.5)) originating from coal mines. PM10 levels from community-based air monitors in Queensland and New South Wales were also compared between mining and nonmining communities. Results indicated that tons
