As coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) continues to spread world-wide, new symptoms associated with the disease continue to appear. Common manifestations include fever, shortness of breath, and gastrointestinal illness. In addition, COVID is known to induce coagulopathy. Here, we present the case of a 17-year-old male who presented with a massive hemopneumothorax and was found to incidentally be positive for Covid-19. We suspect that he had a primary pneumothorax from a bleb and the hemothorax could've been induced by the coagulopathic state induced by COVID infection.

Spontaneous hemopneumothorax is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening condition, with a potential for a rapid ventilatory collapse and a large collection of hidden blood loss into the pleural cavity. We present the case of a 21-year-old male who came to the emergency ward for a thorax bullet wound. At our first check-up, the computed tomography (CT)-scan showed a pulmonary contusion, a hemothorax and a suspicious image of a thoracic aortic wound. The patient was stable, but soon after admission a distal ischemic syndrome appeared which revealed the emboli of the projectile. We removed it and a stent graft was implanted into the thoracic aorta. We report our experience of the treatment and the mechanisms that explain how such a wound did not kill the patient.

Extrarenal angiomyolipomas are rare tumors that have been reported in several organs, including the liver, reproductive organs, skin, and retroperitoneum. We report a rare case of a focally dissected and ruptured atherosclerotic left subclavian artery leading to haemothorax. A man in his 50 s who suffered from hypertension and gout was found dead in bed unexpectedly. Postmortem examination showed a focally dissected and ruptured atherosclerotic left subclavian artery with relatively disease-free aorta and major branches. Although theoretically possible, focal atherosclerosis of left subclavian artery compounded by hypertension causing focal dissection and rupture is not previously reported in literature.

We report an unusual case of spontaneous haemothorax in a 13-year-old girl with isolated costal exostosis. Surgical excision of the exostosis was performed with complete resolution. Costal exostosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of spontaneous haemothorax in children in order to avoid unnecessary investigation and to establish an adequate treatment plan.

A newborn baby with acute respiratory distress caused by tension haemothorax is described. An abnormal clotting profile indicated that the haemothorax was possibly due to a clotting deficiency. Ultrasonography was useful in establishing that the cause of the radio-opacity was fluid. The baby's problem was rapidly resolved by drainage and blood transfusion.

An anterior mediastinal haematoma and left haemothorax developed in a hypertensive diabetic patient on oral anticoagulant therapy. This occurred in spite of well-controlled anticoagulation and the absence of other evidence of systemic bleeding.
