A search of the French and English language literature of the last 20 years (1964-1984) yielded 975 cases of immediate anaphylactoid reactions due to anaesthetic drugs given parenterally. The accident mechanism was confirmed in only half the patients, and nearly always at a later date. The immunoallergological tests most often used in the diagnostic process were skin tests and Prausnitz-Küstner tests. Concentrations of histamine and total ascorbic acid (L-ascorbic acid plus dehydroascorbic acid) in the antecubital vein blood of women in abruptio placentae (normally situated placentae) and placenta praevia have been measured. The results show that blood ascorbic acid in abruptio placentae is significantly (P less than 0.05) lower than the values found in placenta praevia. This may reflect impaired absorption and/or increased breakdown of ascorbic acid in abruptio placentae. Histamine levels in the two conditions are similar to one another.

Hairless rats receiving a deprived Mg2+ diet developed long-lasting inflammatory dermatosis which was not influenced by treatments with mepyramine, cimetidine, aspirin or indomethacin. Dermatosis did not appear in deprived rats treated with intraperitoneal injections of Mg2+, or with dexamethasone. Histamine and prostaglandins did not seem to be involved in this dermatosis. Content of histamine was increased in submaxillary salivary gland of rats in generalized and local forms of botulinic intoxication. Permeability of the histohematic barrier for blood serum proteins was not altered in the salivary gland. Content of histamine was normalized after treatment with pilocarpine. Botulinic intoxication was apparently responsible for short-term and unspecific alterations of histamine content in submaxillary salivary gland.
