BACKGROUND: The impact of psoriasis on quality of life arises from both physical symptoms, such as pain and pruritus, and the psychosocial effects of the often highly visible lesions. For patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis seeking amelioration of these symptoms, time to onset of treatment response is an important consideration when determining an appropriate therapeutic approach with their healthcare provider.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Inflammatory cytokines are thought to trigger periodontal tissue destruction. In addition to being regulated by anti-inflammatory mediators, their activity is under the control of suppressors of cytokine signaling (SOCS), which down-regulate the signal transduction as part of an inhibitory feedback loop. A case of biopsy-confirmed chronic leptomeningitis complicating rheumatoid arthritis in a 53-year old female is reported. Her symptoms included weight loss, severe depression, and pyrexia. Magnetic resonance imaging was useful in diagnosis. Intravenous methylprednisolone was prescribed (1 g/day for 3 days), followed by prednisolone (initial dose of 30 mg daily), and this treatment was effective. Her IgG-index, serum levels of soluble interleukin-2 receptor and ferritin, and cerebrospinal level of interleukin-6 paralleled her clinical course.

The proliferative response of B cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) cells to IL-3 is dependent on the expression of functional IL-3 receptors (IL-3R). BACKGROUND: The hyper IgE syndrome (HIES) is characterized by abscesses, eczema, recurrent infections, skeletal and connective tissue abnormalities, elevated serum IgE, and diminished inflammatory responses.
