We report a case of human nasal myiasis caused by fruit fly larvae in a 33-year-old man who visited the south coast of Turkey. The fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) is endemic in the southern part of Turkey. Infestation with fruit fly larvae must be considered in patients who are visiting areas of the world where Drosophila is endemic. This is the first reported case of fruit fly larvae causing human nasal myiasis. The clinical presentation and treatment strategies are discussed.

The larvicidal effects of 11 anthelmintics, 7 pesticides and 4 disinfectants were evaluated with infective larvae of Strongyloides papillosus (SPL) and Strongyloides venezuelensis (SVZ). The lethal concentrations against SPL and SVZ were found to be similar. Three chemicals (dichlorvos, levamisole and trichlorfon) showed highest larvicidal effects. The 50% lethal concentration (LC(50)) values for the three compounds against SPL larvae were 0.08, 0.24, and 0.59 ppm, respectively.

Migrations of Toxocara canis larvae were observed in experimentally infected chickens. Three groups of three chickens were inoculated orally with T. canis eggs. We report the infection levels of third-stage anisakid larva in the muscle of the Argentinean hake, Merluccius hubbsi, in relation to fish size and location in the musculature. The musculature of 42 hake was separated into hypaxial (ventral) and epiaxial (dorsal) parts and surveyed for nematode larvae. Two anisakid species were detected: Anisakis sp.
