A comparative study of the epidemic process in Sh. sonnei and Sh. flexneri dysentery in different regions of the USSR revealed that the morbidity level of Sh. sonnei dysentery changed simultaneously in the regions under study at intervals of 2-3 years. Sh. flexneri dysentery showed morbidity rises occurring at intervals 6-8 years, and their occurrence did not coincide with the periods of elevated morbidity in Sh. sonnei dysentery. The data obtained in the cohort analysis and in the study of recurrent morbidity suggest that Sh. flexneri dysentery produces more pronounced postinfection immunity

The fourteen cases of Hirayama disease (HD) are presented in this article. HD is seldom disease characterized by juvenile muscular atrophy of upper extremities and benign course. AIM: Study the prevalence and mechanisms of resistance in circulating C. diphtheriae strains.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 664 C. diphtheriae strains isolated in 1987 - 2013 in various regions of Russia and sent to the reference center of Gabrichevsky Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology were the object of the study. Antibiotic sensitivity of the strains was studied by disk-diffusion and E-test methods using 10 antimicrobial preparations. AIM: To study specific features of the incidence, course and diagnosis of tuberculosis pericarditis (TP) in patients with HIV-infection.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: We analysed results of diagnosis of 304 primary patients with organ tuberculosis in combination with HIV infection treated in Moscow tuberculosis hospital N 7 in 2006-2010.
