PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of high-dose intravitreal topotecan (IvitTopo) for recurrent retinoblastoma.
METHODS: There were 13 patients with recurrent retinoblastoma treated with high-dose IvitTopo (90 micrograms [ μ g]/0.18cc-100 µ g/0.20cc). The primary outcome measures were tumor control, globe salvage, and treatment complications.

Transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy is the standard technique to detect prostate cancer histologically. Based on a few case reports, it is known that prostate biopsy can cause a seeding of tumor cells. We report the case of a 64-year-old man who 2 years after radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer underwent proctocolectomy because of ulcerative pancolitis. In the lamina submucosa of the distal rectum a micrometastasis of the prostate cancer was found. A possible reason for this metastasis is an implantation of prostate cancer cells due to the transrectal biopsy of the prostate.

We studied retrospectively 36 patients who had undergone combined suprapubic transvesical prostatectomy for benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and excision of a simultaneous bladder tumor. The follow-up period ranged from 1 to 7 years (average 3 years) and included periodic cystoscopy and voided urine cytology. Thirteen recurrences out of 60 (21.7%) occurred at the bladder neck, in 8 out of 23 patients (34.8%) with recurrent tumors. OBJECTIVE: To address the incidence and potential risk factors of port site metastasis (PSM) in patients who underwent laparoscopic radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) for upper tract urothelial carcinoma.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between January 2013 and December 2018 laparoscopic RNU were performed in 240 patients at our institution, including 145 with renal pelvic tumor and 135 with ureteral tumor (40 patients have both tumor). Laparoscopies were performed through the transperitoneal approach in 28 patients, and retroperitoneal in 212 patients. Clinical data are retrospectively collected.

PURPOSE: This study was undertaken to test the efficacy of an extreme policy of sphincter conservation by combining precise total mesorectal excision with low stapling techniques and endoluminal lavage to guard against implantation.

BACKGROUND: Urachal carcinomas occur mostly in the bladder dome, comprising 22% to 35% of vesical adenocarcinomas, and are generally treated by partial cystectomy with en bloc resection of the median umbilical ligament and umbilicus. Detailed pathologic studies with clinical outcome correlation are few.
DESIGN: We reviewed histologic material and clinical data from 24 cases selected from a database of 67 dome-based tumors diagnosed and treated at our institution from 1984 to 2005. Follow-up information was available for all 24 patients.

The authors describe a Chinese boy presenting with recurrent retinoblastoma in combination with anterior chamber and vitreous seeding. After two cycles of intra-arterial chemotherapy combined with intracameral and intravitreal melphalan injections, the retinal tumor regressed. The seeds in the anterior chamber and vitreous body were invisible. After 12 months of follow-up, extraocular metastasis was not demonstrated and the retinal tumor was stable. The visual acuity of this patient remained 20/30.

We present a 22-year-old woman with an ectopic recurrence of a craniopharyngioma. The patient presented first with a visual field deficit, and a craniopharyngioma was removed via an interhemispheric transcallosal approach. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) performed at 1 month, and then at 1 year after surgery showed complete removal of the lesion. However, at 4 years, MRI showed the presence of a small tumor in the right medial frontal lobe attached to the falx and along the previous surgical route. We present possible explanations for the ectopic recurrence and literature review.

The development of a stomal recurrence after total laryngectomy is a complication with a dismal prognosis. The risk factors and mechanisms involved are still not well understood. In this review of 352 patients, 21 (6%) developed a stomal recurrence. We studied the group of 74 patients (21%) with subglottic involvement separately.
