Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) without an obvious intraparenchymal mass lesion and with diffuse spread in the subarachnoid space is rare. We report such a rare case and discuss the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) features.

We studied three cases of primitive neuroectodermal tumors surgically removed from the cauda equina region of adults. There was no clinical or radiological evidence of cerebellar medulloblastoma, other intracranial tumor or paraspinal sympathetic neuroblastoma. Testicular cancers in closely related family members are rare. We herein report the second incidence of pure seminoma occurring in a father and son. The increased risk of malignant tumors developing in the undescended testis is well established. We also describe the second reported incidence of testicular cancers occurring in 2 non-twin brothers, in which 1 of the cancers developed in an undescended testis.

Twenty-five children treated for ovarian neoplasms at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Yorkhill,Glasgow, between 1947 and 1974 are reported. Eight of the patients had malignant tumours and 17 benign. The patients with benign tumours were treated by either salpingo-oophorectomy or oophorectomy. The malignant cases were treated with either surgery alone or in combination with deep X-ray therapy and/or chemotherapy. Two patients died of malignant teratoma, but the remaining 6 with malignant teratoma, dysgerminoma or endodermal sinus are well. The management of these patients is discussed.

BACKGROUND: HDCT and peripheral-blood stem-cell transplant (PBSCT) can cure up to 60% of pts with relapsed mGCT. Maintenance daily oral etoposide after salvage therapy has demonstrated potential clinical benefit. We now evaluate the potential role of maintenance etoposide versus observation post HDCT+PBSCT in this nonrandomized retrospective analysis.
METHODS: The prospectively maintained Indiana University testicular cancer database was interrogated. Patients with relapsed non-seminoma who completed HDCT+PBSCT and achieved complete serologic remission and hematologic recovery were evaluated.

Radical orchiectomy in testicular cancer patients can have a negative impact on body image and self-esteem. Reconstructive surgery with testicular prosthesis might mitigate this burden.
