We describe the case of a 28-year-old man with a giant congenital melanocytic nevus (GCMN) with malignant transformation to melanoma and metastasis on the central nervous system (CNS). We also make a summary of the pathological features from both lesions (GCMN and Melanoma), the occurrence of malignancy of GCMN, the organs more frequently involved with metastatic melanoma--with emphasis to involvement of CNS--just as the factors that cause malignant transformation of GCMN; the methods to diagnose metastases in CNS--emphasizing the importance of cerebrospinal fluid--and some therapeutical modal

We report a case of triple intracranial tumors of different cell types without phacomatosis. The patient was a 77-year-old female who was hospitalized with left hemiparesis and vomiting. Computed tomography (CT) scans revealed a large tumor mass in the right frontal lobe and relatively small tumor masses in the medial right frontal and parietal lobes. Other tumors were also detected in the sella turcica, left sphenoidal wing, left anterior clinoidal process and left cerebellar convexity. This case was considered to be one of metastatic brain tumors, and surgery was performed for the right fron

We report a case of leiomyosarcoma of the kidney, presenting in the course of xeroderma pigmentosum, which debuted clinically as Wünderlich's syndrome due to spontaneous rupture of the tumor. We describe the case history and discuss the cutaneous disorder, analyzing the clinical and etiopathogenic factors, and conclude with an attempt to establish a relationship between the two pathologies.

A 69-year-old female, chiefly complaining of diarrhea, was admitted to the Toyama Medical & Pharmaceutical University Hospital. A barium enema and an endoscopic examination revealed a villous adenocarcinoma of the rectum. Computerized tomography disclosed multiple metastatic lesions in the liver. She underwent an amptatio recti and an intra-arterial cannulation of the common hepatic artery in order to administer anticancer agents. Gross findings of the resected specimen showed villous adenocarcinoma containing a small ulcerated lesion. Histologic findings of this lesion revealed a collision ne

The article describes a case of viscerous haemangiomatosis in a 3 1/4-year old girl. Unusually extensive changes in the skin and soft parts, progressing since birth, are shown. Radiological findings for localising visceral haemangiomas are underlined, especially in connection with frequent posthaemorrhagic anaemia as a result of intestinal involvement. Typical x-ray findings: Phleboliths and soft-part "tumours" in plain roentgenograpy (abdomen, soft parts of the skin, cranium); involvement of the walls and disturbances of motility through intestinal haemangiomas in oral and rectal examination

BACKGROUND: Synchronous multiple primary malignancies (sMPMs) involving lung cancer present complex clinical challenges requiring individualized treatment strategies. While surgical outcomes have been reported, data on long-term outcomes, including the development of new additional primary malignancies after surgery, remain limited.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 85 patients with sMPMs involving lung cancer selected from 2820 patients who underwent pulmonary resection between 2008 and 2020. Surgical strategies, treatment sequence, perioperative outcomes, and long-term survival were eval

BACKGROUND: Primary hyperparathyroidism in pregnant women is a rare antenatal complication. Maternal symptoms include nephrolithiasis, bone disease, pancreatitis, hyperemesis, muscle weakness, mental status changes, and hypercalcemic crisis. Fetal complications comprise intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, preterm delivery, intrauterine fetal death, postpartum neonatal titanic crisis, and permanent hypoparathyroidism.
CASE: A 23-year-old gravida was referred to our clinic with severe hyperemesis and weight loss at 32 gestational weeks. She was diagnosed with primary hyperparathy

We describe a 63-year-old man who, while under treatment as an outpatient for adult onset Still's disease (AOSD), developed edema of the extremities and mediastinal tumor was observed on a chest X-ray film and a chest CT scan. He was not pathologically diagnosed at first and received radiation therapy with a total dose of 30 Gy. Transbronchial biopsy was carried out because the tumor enlarged, and the tumor invasion was observed in the left lumen of the main bronchus. Histological findings suggested a diagnosis of carcinoma with sarcomatoid elements (CSE). Further radiation therapy with a dose

BACKGROUND: Long-term survivors of cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) risk subsequent malignancies due to both host-related and environmental risk factors. This retrospective population-based study differentially assesses the risk of synchronous and metachronous cancers in a cohort of CMM survivors stratified by sex.
METHODS: The cohort study (1999-2018) included 9,726 CMM survivors (M = 4,873, F = 4,853) recorded by the cancer registry of all 5,000,000 residents in the Italian Veneto Region. By excluding subsequent CMM and non-CMM skin cancers, the incidence of synchronous and metachronous m

BACKGROUND: Multiple primary cancer (MPC) has been recognized as a problem commonly encountered in routine medical practice. A study of MPC is necessary not only to provide insights into the etiology of cancer, but also to provide information for effective medical care by clinical oncologists.
METHODS: A cohort of 49,751 cancer patients who were admitted to the National Cancer Center Hospital between 1962 and 1996 was used to study the site relationship of MPC. Logistic and Poisson regression analyses using an internal reference group within the cohort were applied for the calculation of the

INTRODUCTION: In children, vasculitis as a paraneoplastic syndrome has never been reported before. In this work we report a vasculitis syndrome as a neoplasm onset manifestation in a child and we discuss our case regarding the data from literature.
CASE REPORT: A 7-year-old girl presented with hand and foot ulceration, fixed cyanosis and pallor. During investigation, a central nervous system (CNS) rhabdomyosarcoma with metastasis on multiple sites was diagnosed.
DISCUSSION: Rhabdomyosarcomas represent 5 to 8% of child neoplasms, although the CNS seldom is the primary site. In the indexed Eng

Angiosarcomas are malignant vascular tumors primarily located in the dermis or soft tissues predominantly in the head and neck region. Ovarian localization is extremely rare, with only a few published cases. A 63-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital due to severe pain in the hypogastric and abdominal regions. The condition was interpreted as an acute abdomen and referred to surgery, and an ovarian tumor that measured 23cm×11cm×5cm and weighed 7500g was resected. Macroscopically, the cut surface showed two well-defined areas: one consisting of a matte white tissue with a fascicular app

While pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) originates from exocrine cells of the pancreas, pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (PNENs) arise from pancreatic neuroendocrine cells. The concurrent presence of an exocrine pancreatic tumor and a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor is referred to broadly as a pancreatic collision tumor. In cases where the lesions are spatially distant, they are termed as multiple primary tumors, a relatively uncommon occurrence. For both, surgical radical resection contributes to improved prognosis. Therefore, accurate evaluation of factors such as tumor number and l

BACKGROUND Mature ovarian teratomas account for 20% of all adnexal tumors and consist of mature elements from all 3 germ layers. Immature teratomas are much rarer, comprising only 3% of clinical cases. These tumors, which arise from primordial germ cells, can contain both differentiated and undifferentiated tissue, primarily neuroepithelium. It is very rare for a single patient to have both gonads affected, especially by 2 different types of teratomas. This report describes the case of a 30-year-old woman with a right ovarian mature cystic teratoma and a left ovarian immature teratoma. CASE RE

Well-differentiated papillary mesothelioma (WDPM) is a rare mesothelial tumor of uncertain malignant potential. We present a unique case of a woman with synchronous WDPM and well-differentiated endometrioid adenocarcinoma (EA) arising from extraovarian endometriosis. A 56-year-old postmenopausal woman presented with a several-month history of right lower quadrant abdominal pain. She had a history of supracervical hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy secondary to endometriosis. Imaging reported a mass in the right lower quadrant originating from the distal ileum. At laparotomy, the
