BACKGROUND: The rapid growth of social media has transformed communication, with more than 5.66 billion users worldwide in 2025 who spent an average of 141 minutes daily on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, and TikTok. Nurses frequently use social media to exchange work-related information, communicate with others, and relieve stress. While social media can support professional development, excessive or inappropriate use at work may compromise patient care. Despite widespread use, research on nurses' demographic factors and actual workplace social media behaviors remain

Chronic workplace stress has significant negative effects on nurses' health and well-being, with consequences for patient care quality and overall organizational performance. Worksite interventions aimed at reducing stress and burnout and improving coping among nurses have increasingly incorporated the use of therapy dogs. Emerging research indicates that even brief interactions between nurses and therapy dogs can enhance physical and mental health, while also strengthening teamwork, communication, and unit morale. Despite these benefits, implementing a therapy dog program requires comprehensi

AIM: This paper reports on a study exploring the experiences and attitudes of generic mental health nurses towards care of women with severe mental illness during the perinatal period.
BACKGROUND: Severe mental disorder in the perinatal period is a global public health concern. However, there are concerns that mental health nurses other than dedicated perinatal mental health teams may lack knowledge, skills and experience in caring for such disorders, because of their low prevalence.
METHODS: Sixteen generic Registered Mental Nurses working in public adult mental health services participated

Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) has extended the lifespan of people living with HIV (PWH), many experience complex age-related comorbidities and functional decline. Nurses are increasingly caring for PWH navigating cardiometabolic disease, neurocognitive changes, frailty, and mental health challenges. This narrative review provides a multidimensional overview of aging with HIV and highlights the role of exercise as an accessible, evidence-based strategy to support healthy aging. Chronic immune activation and long-term ART use contribute to inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, cardiom

Housing is one of the social determinants of health, and homelessness is associated with health inequalities including increased morbidity and decreased life expectancy. Services to improve access to and use of primary healthcare are provided to formerly homeless individuals (hereafter residents) who live in permanent supportive housing (PSH). Residents do not always utilize services, nor receive adequate healthcare, and often have poor health outcomes. The study aims were to explore nurse and case manager (hereafter participants) views on the challenges of providing healthcare to residents, a

Nurses have a longstanding history of witnessing the tragedy experienced by patients and families; however, their own reactions to profound loss and premature death have not been systematically addressed. There is a paucity of research describing interventions to prevent or minimize the ramifications of repeated exposure to traumatic events in the clinical workplace. Compassion fatigue is a contemporary label affixed to the concept of personal vicarious exposure to trauma on a regular basis. Yet this phenomenon of compassion fatigue lacks clarity. In this article, the author begins by describi

BACKGROUND: Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, and allied (LGBTQIA+) individuals encounter challenges with access and engagement with health services. Studies have reported that LGBTQIA+ individuals experience stigma, discrimination, and health workers' microaggression when accessing health care. Compelling evidence suggests that the LGBTQIA+ community faces disproportionate rates of HIV infection, mental health disorders, substance abuse, and other noncommunicable diseases. BACKGROUND: Shortage in nursing resource results from the combination of a lack of nurses, an increased patient volume and workload, and other factors. This seems to be a worldwide phenomenon, leading to multiple health care related challenges and a decreased quality of care, but is different in extent in high- vs. low-income countries. An international perspective can alleviate challenges to keep our patients safe through increasing our health workers' safety.
PURPOSE & METHOD: To exchange experiences with the shortage in nursing resource globally, an international online conference event wa

The Children's Mental Health Initiative (CMHI) is funded by the Center for Mental Health Services within the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. CMHI assists communities in developing comprehensive, coordinated services for children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. Broadly speaking, these systems are designed to be child centered, youth guided, family driven, community based, and culturally competent. To assure implementation of the "youth-guided" core value in the national evaluation, an advisory group of youth coordinator/youth teams representing

This study explored concussion knowledge, education, and organizational policies among school nurses (n = 12) and youth athletic program leaders (n = 14) in the Philadelphia area from June-September 2023. Using semi structured interviews, questionnaires, and thematic analysis, three themes emerged: (1) School nurses and youth athletic program leaders know their roles in concussion management but welcomed more education. (2) System-level gaps in concussion oversight beyond organized sports exist for younger children, those injured via non-sport related mechanisms, in recreational settings, or d

AIMS AND OBJECTIVE: To develop a computer-assisted appraisal system of osteoporosis that can predict osteoporosis health risk in community-dwelling women and to use it in an empirical analysis of the risk in Asian women.
BACKGROUND: As the literature indicates, health risk assessment tools are generally applied in clinical practice for patient diagnosis. However, few studies have explored how to assist community-dwelling women to understand the risk of osteoporosis without invasive data.
DESIGN: A longitudinal, evidence-based study.
METHOD: The first stage of this study is to establish a sy

BACKGROUND: Planetary health is an emerging field of growing global importance. Environmental changes increasingly threaten maternal and child health, while nurses and midwives play central roles across care processes. Despite these opportunities, planetary health education and training in nursing and midwifery are underdeveloped and a mapping of current approaches is critically needed.
OBJECTIVE: To map existing planetary health education and training initiatives for nurses and midwives and examine their reported educational and practice outcomes related to maternal and child health.

OBJECTIVES: Sweden has had a high and stable vaccination coverage for measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine (>96%) through the national immunization program (NIP), but coverage rates highlight local pockets of lower vaccination coverage. This project addressed low MMR vaccine acceptance among parents in a Somali community, in Stockholm. The objective of the intervention was to increase vaccine confidence and MMR-vaccine uptake and also to inform practices addressing vaccine acceptance.

Extreme heat and wildfire events are becoming more frequent across the United States, creating emerging environmental health challenges for school communities. Exposure to high temperatures and wildfire emissions can adversely affect physical and emotional health, attendance, well-being, and academic or work performance. Students, especially those with asthma or other chronic health conditions, as well as staff with preexisting health concerns, are more susceptible to these exposures and face greater risk. School nurses are uniquely positioned at the intersection of healthcare and education to

BACKGROUND: The prevention of medical errors depends on effective communication and teamwork between nurses, yet traditional nurse call systems create inefficiencies that result in higher staff workloads. Further research is needed to evaluate how digital health care technologies affect nursing workflows and whether they contribute to staff workload.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate whether a smartphone app using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Mesh-based signal communication could enhance nurse-to-nurse communication, decrease response times, and improve teamwork as measured by the TeamSTE
