Rehabilitation Programs for Bedridden Patients with Prolonged Immobility: A Scoping Review Protocol.

Bedridden patients usually stay in bed for long periods, presenting several motor problems caused by immobility, such as reductions in muscle mass, bone mineral density and physical impairment, resulting in a long recovery process. Thus, identifying physical rehabilitation programs for bedridden patients with prolonged immobility is a matter of urgent research for a solution that will help health professionals and stakeholders to develop more adjusted programs and identify possible gaps. To date, no previous scoping reviews addressing this purpose have been found. This scoping review will be g

Cluster Randomized Controlled Trial of Group Prenatal Care: Perinatal Outcomes Among Adolescents in New York City Health Centers.

OBJECTIVES: We compared an evidence-based model of group prenatal care to traditional individual prenatal care on birth, neonatal, and reproductive health outcomes. METHODS: We performed a multisite cluster randomized controlled trial in 14 health centers in New York City (2008-2012). We analyzed 1148 pregnant women aged 14 to 21 years, at less than 24 weeks of gestation, and not at high obstetrical risk. We assessed outcomes via medical records and surveys. RESULTS: In intention-to-treat analyses, women at intervention sites were significantly less likely to have infants small for gestation

The Role of Nurse Managers in Promoting Psychological Safety and Patient Safety Culture in Nursing Teams: A Scoping Review.

Background/Objectives: Psychological safety is increasingly recognized as a key factor in promoting communication, learning, and teamwork in healthcare, with implications for patient safety culture. Although psychological safety and patient safety culture have been reviewed separately, evidence on how nurse managers contribute to both constructs within nursing teams remains fragmented. This scoping review aimed to map the available evidence on the role of nurse managers in promoting psychological safety and patient safety culture in nursing teams, identify leadership behaviors, strategies, and

Translating research to usual care of children with sickle cell disease in Northern Nigeria: lessons learned from the SPRING Trial Team.

OBJECTIVES: Evidence-based practice for stroke prevention in high-income countries involves screening for abnormal transcranial Doppler (TCD) velocity and initiating regular blood transfusions for at least 1 year, followed by treatment with hydroxyurea. This practice has not been transferred to low-resource settings like Nigeria, the country with the highest global population density of SCD. Following a multi-center randomized controlled trial among children with SCA in northern Nigeria, screening for stroke and initiation of hydroxyurea was established as standard of care at the clinical tria

Aggregating automatically extracted regulatory pathway relations.

Automatic tools to extract information from biomedical texts are needed to help researchers leverage the vast and increasing body of biomedical literature. While several biomedical relation extraction systems have been created and tested, little work has been done to meaningfully organize the extracted relations. Organizational processes should consolidate multiple references to the same objects over various levels of granularity, connect those references to other resources, and capture contextual information. We propose a feature decomposition approach to relation aggregation to support a fiv

Post-occupational health surveillance of asbestos workers.

BACKGROUND: Italian law requires an extensive health surveillance of workers after cessation of their employment status in the case of occupational exposure to carcinogens, including asbestos. Nonetheless, Italian law does not specify the timeframe of these clinical checks, nor who has financial and organizational responsibility for this surveillance. A literature search confirmed a lack of consensus around the objectives and methods to follow up workers with past occupational exposure to asbestos. OBJECTIVES: To develop an updated evidence-based methodology for an appropriate health surveill

Artificial intelligence-driven work systems and employee burnout: a systematic review of mechanisms, moderators, and a dynamic meta-system framework.

BACKGROUND: The rapid integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into workplace systems is transforming job design and employee experiences. While AI promises efficiency gains, it also creates a paradox by simultaneously reducing workload and increasing psychological strain, leading to divergent effects on burnout. OBJECTIVE: This study systematically reviews evidence on the relationship between AI exposure and employee burnout and develops the AI as Meta-System (AIMS) framework. METHODS: Following PRISMA 2020, four bibliographic databases and Google Scholar were searched from inception to
