BACKGROUND: We assessed the safety profile of tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) in patients with right ventricular (RV) dysfunction.
METHODS: We identified patients undergoing TEER to treat tricuspid regurgitation from June 2015 to October 2021 and assessed tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and RV fractional area change (RVFAC). RV dysfunction was defined as TAPSE <17 mm and RVFAC <35%. The primary end point was 30-day mortality after TEER. BACKGROUND: Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) speed optimization and right heart failure post device implantation are major clinical challenges. Right heart catheterization (RHC)-guided speed titration studies are often performed to optimize LVAD settings, which are unknown and must be optimized for each patient. The coexistence of subclavian steal syndrome and aberrant right subclavian artery is a very rare condition. Herein, we report a case of a 73-year-old male patient with subclavian steal syndrome who underwent carotid-subclavian bypass surgery. A single supraclavicular incision was made and carotid-subclavian bypass operation was performed using a Dacron graft in the patient. Spontaneous cervical artery dissection, a nontraumatic tear in the wall of an internal carotid or vertebral artery, is a common cause of stroke, particularly in patients younger than 40 years of age; however, petrous internal carotid artery dissection is extremely rare. This case report describes a 50-year-old woman who had a spontaneous intrapetrous internal carotid dissection thought to be secondary to active SARS-CoV-2 infection; the dissection was treated successfully with a flow-diverter stent.
