The rate of reepithelialization of the rabbit cornea, receiving isotonic NaCl solution and acetylcysteine (Mucomyst) solution at 10 and 20% concentrations, following a superficial epithelial ulcer was studied by fluorescein staining, photography and light microscopy. The dynamics of pupillary dilation induced by Phenylephrine 10% and Cyclopentolate 1% have been examined by flash photography. A correlation between anterior chamber depth and the pupil shape on dilation with Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 10% is described. It is postulated that these pupillary dilation dynamics support a sympathetic abnormality as a trigger for acute primary angle closure glaucoma.

A photographic technique is described, which is based on simultaneous photography of the papilla with green and red filters by means of a stereoscopic fundus camera. Using black and white film, the negatives are photometrically measured and the pallor-disc ratio and colour of the papilla are calculated from the densitometric tracings. The latter parameter is quantitatively expressed by a numerical index. The method is demonstrated in a practical example.

A routine ophthalmologic examination supplemented by color fundus photography and, in 2 cases, by fluorescein angiography was performed in 8 patients with PLO-SL (= polycystic lipomembranous dysplasia with sclerosing leukoencephalopathy).
