Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) has been shown to be of value in estimating the radiation dose to the peritoneum from 32P therapy. Simple dosimetry calculations, assuming uniform irradiation of tissue, indicate that radiation doses of approximately 40 Gy to the peritoneal surface are achieved. However, the images show that the radionuclide distribution is non-uniform, giving rise to radiation dose variations of at least a factor of 10.

AIMS: To describe a new test for vesicoureteric reflux in children and assess patient preference compared to indirect radionuclide cystography.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred and three toilet-trained children aged between 2.1 and 15.6 years underwent percutaneous injection of 10-20 MBq of 99m-technetium-labelled mercapto-acetyl-triglycine (MAG3) into the full bladder after the application of anaesthetic cream. A whole-body computed tomography system for single-photon emitters was used to investigate the clinical utility of this imaging modality. We have explored its application in brain, lung, liver, kidney, cardiac, bone, and gallium imaging in over 200 patients. PURPOSE: Transarterial radioembolization (TARE) is an important locoregional therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, clinically used yttrium-90 (90Y) microspheres are non-biodegradable and provide limited imaging capability, while biodegradable polymeric microspheres prepared using conventional radiolabeling strategies often exhibit poor radionuclide stability.

OBJECTIVE: Overexpression of chemokine receptor subtype 4 (CXCR4) receptors is the root cause of the metastatic spread of various cancers. The use of CXCR4 antagonists as specific ligands to inhibit the CXCR4 interaction with its only natural ligand stromal cell derived factor-1α would benefit. Plerixafor is one such Food and Drug Administration approved CXCR4 antagonist used for hematopoietic stem cell mobilization in patients. A complication of total knee arthroplasty is patellar avascular necrosis. Surgical approaches for total knee arthroplasty include the medial parapatellar approach (MPa) and, less commonly, the subvastus approach (SVa). Osteolysis of the skull is fairly common. The clinical presentation and results of laboratory or imaging tests may suggest a benign or a malignant disease. We reviewed various imaging approaches in 22 patients with gallbladder cancer. Nineteen had had ultrasonography and nine computed tomography performed. A gallbladder mass or diffuse wall thickening was seen by ultrasonography in 42% and computed tomography in 33% of patients. A patient with metastatic atypical right lung carcinoid underwent 68 Ga-FAP2286 and 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT scans to assess eligibility for radionuclide therapy, which revealed insufficient coverage of all lesions by either tracer. Invasive fungal infections such as aspergillosis are life-threatening diseases mainly affecting immuno-compromised patients. In a study designed to evaluate the radionuclide images in patients with gout, six (23%) of the 26 patients had clear evidence of Paget's disease of bone by technetium Tc 99m medronate imaging. A reference population consisting of 333 technetium Tc 99m medronate bone scans ordered for other reasons was reviewed, and only seven scans (2.1%) were found to have evidence of Paget's disease. This difference was found to be highly significant. All cases of Paget's disease were confirmed by independent radiologic evaluation.
