We experienced a rare case of primary leiomyosarcoma of sigmoid mesentery. A 45-year-old woman was presented to us with left iliac fossa mass and discomfort for 4-month duration. CT scan of abdomen and pelvis revealed a huge mass 14 cm×14 cm×16 cm occupying left iliac fossa mimicked having a large left ovarian carcinoma. She was subsequently planned for elective total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy by gynaecology team. Endometriosis is a relatively frequent disease in fertile women. The intestine is involved in 12-37% of cases. Intestinal endometriosis is usually asymptomatic and complete obstruction of the bowel lumen occurs in less than 1% of cases. We report a case of endometriosis of the sigmoid, which caused complete intestinal obstruction and mimicked carcinoma of the sigmoid colon. This case demonstrates the difficulty of establishing an accurate pre- and peroperative diagnosis and the propensity of intestinal endometriosis to mimic colon cancer.

We herein report an extremely rare operative case of an isolated extraperitoneal metastasis of colon cancer. A female patient had undergone a sigmoidectomy for ileus due to sigmoid colon cancer when she was 40 years old. Using alkaline phosphatase isozyme-specific immunocatalytical assays, the content of isozymes was determined in normal mucosas and adenocarcinomas from human colon or rectum. The results of treatment of 6 patients with duodenostasis, caused by cancer of the duodenum (2) and pancreas (3), metastasis of the sigmoid colon cancer (1) are analysed. We report extensive colonic hemangiomatosis in two young adults. In the first, the hemangioma contiguously involved the entire colon. In the second, a large venous angioma affected the bladder, rectosigmoid, and descending colon. Venous angioma, a variant of hemangioma, is frequently confused with cavernous hemangioma because of their similar histologic appearance. The angiographic features, however, may enable a more accurate preoperative diagnosis and prevent unwarranted biopsy. We review and put into perspective pertinent previous reports of cavernous and venous angioma.

In recent years the colon urinary conduit has been used more frequently as an isolated urinary conduit at the time of total pelvic exenteration for recurrent carcinoma of the uterine cervix. This avoids an intestinal anastomosis and allows for the colon ureteral anastomosis to be outside of the previous irradiation field. Presented is the third case report of adenocarcinoma occurring in an isolated colonic urinary conduit, suggesting that careful surveillance for such malignancies may be required until the potential of neoplastic change is determined.
